2022 PGA Tour

Having -5 win a tour event is so refreshing every now and then.
A third of the field (26/77) shoots +5 or worse the final round. Congrats to Scottie and others who were under par.

it shows you though that if all you do is bomb driver and dont hit fairways courses can still be hard when there is a bit of wind. i didnt see any of them gear down even on the shorter holes.. you get 30-50 yds of roll on those fariways just hit lesser clubs 250 down the middle and you still have irons into the greens.

I got a $25 ticket at 27-1 on Scheffler to win.
payout was $700. With the potential large payout I did a little live bet hedging on Sunday with $100 each on Hovland and Woodland. Just had to sweat Horchsel not making a birdie on 18.

i had both around 10-1 live from sat, so I just had to dodge a hovland chip in on 18. I felt good he wouldnt make a putt. I had Woodland last week and he got to where he could make the run and fell apart.. this week he pushed on until that one hole.

Players is gonna be a mess.. the firtst groups thurs shot lights out and the 2nd half got crappy weather over 3 days fir both rounds and struggling all over..

It's certainly an event where 1/2 of the field will get the clear advantage.
I might put a few bets down on players that are only going to play a few holes today.

Of the 7 guys I put money, 2 are playing well. Kisner was my only real longshot I took at 160-1 **, and for no logical reason I took Dustin Johnson at 35-1. Also had Scheffler who is playing fairly well. Unfortunately they are all on the wrong side of the draw.

** I also took every Canadian to win or top 8 for a few dollars. I don't expect Pendrith (300-1) to hang around the leaderboard but he is on the right side of the draw.

Today is laughable. Hopefully tomorrow the condition won't be as bad.

Glad I hadn't put money on Speith. A real challenge.

There is still some OK scores out there for those out on the course right now. 11 players have managed to shoot under par... Bubba Watson is -4, and has moved up from 86th to 14th.

The odd thing though is how random (and underwhelming in terms of name power) those 11 are. It seems the best players in the world are actually doing worse vs the field today.

In the 11 under par today, you have 2 players in the world top 20 - Horschel and Thomas.
Yet if you look at the 12 players who are +6 or over today, 4 of them are in the world top 20 - Koepka, Scheffler, Speith, Schauffele.

And a lot of the guys doing real bad teed off within 30 minutes or so of each other on the back nine.

The Scheffler - Schauffele - Koepka are +20 as a threesome after 15 holes. Yikes.

27 holes tomorrow. Gonna be great. So many freaking guys within 4 strokes

It's great but of all the big tournaments, nothing produces as much random winners as Sawgrass. Of course the weather killing half the field also plays into it this year,

Hopefully a few a more bigger names rise before the back 9 tomorrow.

If a lesser known player wins I'm cool with it.

I don't mind when a less known player wins -- I actually like it IF they are beating some top 10 type players at the end.

Turning into an exciting finish -- we have had a few runaways in recent years IIRC... certainly Webb and I believe Si-Woo Kim. T

It too the drama out of 3 dramatic roles to end -- the eagle'able 16th, the 17th, and a tough par 4 to close.

In terms of gambling, I bet 1/5th odds top 8 on my long odd bets of Kisner and Hadwin, so will make a small profit on my team if Kisner does not screw up. Wish Hadwin had finished at -8... at -7 he is probably going to get a top 8 cut, but right now he is t8 with 8 guys so my cut is now only about 12% of the bet.

Brutal hook drive by Mullet Smith.

Paul Casey what a horrible break. Perfect drive and the ball ends up directly in a ball mark. I have never seen that (at least not your own), and neither have the broadcasters apparently.

Can't believe Smith took that line with a 2 shot lead. Maybe not the smartest thing, but ballsy and clutch as hell.

smith was aiming middle and got lucky it stayed on the green. not a chance he was aiming at the pin with a 2 shot lead

Wow Smith is melting down.
