If we're truly going to be an up-tempo team trying to get out and run on the break, a trio of Judah, JJ, and Benny is very exciting to me.
Known about starling for a little bit now. Have been alluding to it. If Autry is serious about playing up tempo and getting up and down. You get Judah back, bring in starling and tell Joe thank you for the last four years. There legitimately would not be a better back court in America for your tempo basketball than Judah and Starling. Both are absolute studs in transition and Judah is one of the best finishers around the basket we’ve seen here in awhile. You paid them with Benny and Brown on the wings both of which are extremely athletic and can run like deer. And get Jesse back who runs the floor extremely well for a big guy and can finish well in transition. Fellas not only is that a great up tempo line up but that’s a great defensive line up too and extremely athletic team. That’s the type of Cuse team we are used too. Would be a great start for Autry
Currently have signed up for a portal notification in case JJ Reddick might have eligibility and be looking to transfer. Otherwise, bringing in Starling is an absolute no-brainer.My obligatory we can do better than JJ post.
I watched him. Reasonable minds can disagree.Currently have signed up for a portal notification in case JJ Reddick might have eligibility and be looking to transfer. Otherwise, bringing in Starling is an absolute no-brainer.
Seriously, anyone who is not into this potential addition did not really watch Starling play this season. Look at his athleticism, shooting form. And not just from his highlight tape. He was a 5-star for good reason and he is going to be a top 5-10 portal "get" for whomever signs him. He needs to get a tad stronger, tougher on defense and move a better without the ball, ... but this dude has ALL of the tools and he played pretty darn well in 2022-23 for ND (and Brey is a good offensive coach). I say this respectfully, but I am perplexed that some prominent posters here question him.
I don't think Starling is going to be a top 5 NBA draft pick, but we have not had a player like this since Dion departed in 2012 (and that includes Triche, who could play!).

Yeah. It appears this is happening. Great first step by AA.
Quoting this mainly because !!!!!Yeah. It appears this is happening. Great first step by AA.
The first backcourt that came to mind was Triche/MCW. They were mostly poor shooters that season. We had a great year with them, but Southerland and Fair shot the piss out of the ball and that opened driving lanes for them. While different playing styles, how he approaches the game to me is similar to Triche. At times he is very aggressive and difficult to deal with and others he fades into the distance. Still think he can be a big add and if put into an uptempo system alongside a player like Judah can be very good. That said NBA talk is extremely premature right now.

For those questioning the spacing issues with him and Judah, I would just point out that JJ shot ~38% from 3 his senior season on good volume.
Time to get our swagger back.
If we land that kid from TTU, land JJ and keep Judah, Red should get a raise before the season starts.
Who is the guy from TTU you are interested in? Is it general excitement for the guy or do we have a connection with him? What type of player is he?Time to get our swagger back.

You won’t need one when Jesse comes backAs much as the JJ news is exciting, I'm thoroughly waiting/on the edge of my seat for the Center that we get to transfer in. I know guards are so important in our program but having a good center just helps so much
