2023 Spring Practice

I understand today was the first day of Mat Drills.

The team was broken into six teams. They will compete against each other a couple days a week (Tues/Thurs) doing high intensity drills until spring ball starts.

I think the captains are;

Shrader
Allen
Gadsden
Barron
Johnson
Okechukwu

Hopefully we can see pictures and the social media sites a couple of time a week.

"It’s definitely high energy, it’s absolutely centered around competition, and it’s one of the things that sets the tone for workouts that build a foundation towards success in the fall."

Hopefully Cruz can make a big jump this season as a full time starter. This coming season as a RS Sophomore first year starter he's not going to be equal to what we had in Bergeron this past year as a 3 1/2 year starter. But hopefully he can be solid. He has gained a lot of good weight since his Senior year of HS and I think he could add another 10-20 lbs of muscle in the next couple of years. I think the future looks really solid for him. He has the tools, just needs some experience.

And we really need him to develop quickly.

Also a good reason the staff had Bergeron opt-out. Cruz started at LT in the bowl game
