2024 bowl projections thread

I have to think based on the Mayo Bowl and Pinstripe Bowl projections that they have not been updated for our win against Miami. Makes no sense otherwise unless ACC is going out of their way to ***.

Yes please...

Charlotte Mayo Bowl does have an ACC tie-in, however...

If we get Mayo against say - Rutgers, blech! (their name is being bandied about for it.)

That would be great.
I dare say McCord and the rest of the team would opt in for that bowl.
And how ironic to see Sellars who dumped us on the eve of his signing with us.

If McCord and the rest of the team opts in, I would go to that bowl.

I have only gone to two bowls in my lifetime - the Gator and Orange of the McNab years.

Pop tarts would be more convenient. I’d be happy with that or Gator. Those are the only two we realistically should get based on where we finished. Lot of the Louisville and Duke talk for Gator was under the assumption we’d lose. Duke won’t sell a lot of tickets so I can see them ending up in El Paso or Mayo.

The picks for pinstripe are lazy and uninformed.

Pop Tarts - 60%
Gator - 25%
Holiday - 10%
Mayo or others - 5%
This doesn't make sense to me. Based strictly on the number of new posts here (post win) mentioning Gator, I would think that one would be the one over 50%.

Nooooooo no Pop Tarts Bowl … that thing where they eat the mascot afterwards is just creepy

Yeah they see Pinstripe and us being a New York State team, lazy as hell, 9-3 teams don’t go to the Pinstripe

Depends on the flavor:

S’mores - definitely toasted
Chocolate - out of the bag

Never had s'mores flavor...

Love a traditional strawberry cold tho.

I saw an article from an El Paso newspaper yesterday that said they did not expect Syracuse to be around when it came time for them to select an ACC team. This was before SU beat Miami. So I think it is unlikely we fall that low.

All these projections are bogus though until we find out how many ACC teams make the playoffs.

I think the worst case scenario for Syracuse is for SMU to beat Clemson next Saturday. If that happens, it is possible and perhaps likely the ACC only gets SMU into the playoffs.

We can argue about that and I hope Miami would still get a playoff spot but you know the SEC and B1G are going to fight like hell for their teams and we saw last year how little power the ACC has in these matters.

So let’s just say it happens and examine how it impacts Syracuse. Again, this is a worst case scenario.

SMU goes to the playoffs.

Clemson gets the Pop Tarts or the Holiday. They played in the Gator last year and I don’t think will return there. They played in the Pop Tarts bowl in late 2021 so playing there again so soon is not ideal.

Miami would probably go to the Gator. I find this impossible to believe but it looks to me as though they have not played in that game since 1952. I could see the Gator picking us though if word got out McCord and the gang would be playing for SU. I believe Cam Ward is definitely not playing for UM, along with many of the other of the mercenaries they signed to play for them this year.

That leaves Syracuse, Duke and UL as the next tier of teams available.

One gets the Holiday.

It won’t be Duke. They have no fanbase and always get boned with bowl assignments.

If the Holiday is still available, I think they would take SU. We clearly have a strong presence out west. UL does not. Duke doesn’t have a strong presence (for football) anywhere. But would we be willing to go out west a third time this season?

I think the answer is yes, if the alternatives are Charlotte or El Paso.

If the ACC gets two teams into the playoffs, o think we almost widely end up in k e of the Florida bowls, probably the Gator.

Will feel a lot better about things of the ACzc gets two teams in. Very sad Clemson could not hold on to that lead against South Carolina.
