2024 bowl projections thread

Is Military Bowl to low level in the pecking order? If we could play Army or Navy in that game it would be the most attractive for me to attend.
We were suppose to play Army this year, and it would be a fun game to see.

They have taken 8-4 ACC teams before. I don’t think it’s likely but definitely possible.

Order of preference

gator
holiday
sun

all others need not apply

bowl games are tough now as so many people wont be playing. Its a total dick punch downer. Last years bowl game was probably the worst sporting event i have ever watched (well at least the first half before i turned it off)

sadly its playoff or bust in college football going forward. Way the sport is

Where did you see that McCord would sit out a bowl?
I think it is speculation right now, but I would be surprised if he played. No way Oronde plays. I am wondering with LaQuint, is he going to try for the NFL draft? As great as he is out of the backfield as a receiver I just don’t see him getting drafted and he does have one more year of eligibility. He can make more cash staying at SU

McCord was an undecided for the East-West Shrine Bowl on that last report according to Axe/Syr Insiders text but I thought I also heard somewhere else is an undecided for whatever SU bowl as well.

He officially accepted the invite for the Shrine Bowl. Doubt he would accept the offer and then not play in it. In that same line of thinking, I doubt he would play in the Shrine Bowl and not our bowl game. Especially if it ends up being a good “name” bowl against a “name” team.

We don’t know what kind of philosophy Fran is applying to these bowl games and what’s said in the locker room. Kyle seems like the type that wouldn’t opt out but of all the potential opt outs, he’s the one I mind the least because I want to see jakhari. These aren’t guaranteed first round picks opting out too. He hasn’t been hit hard all year either. They seem like a tight group too. So lots of factors.

It's just nice to have a thread this late in the year where the live discussion is about Gator vs. Holiday vs. Sun vs. Mayo vs. Pop Tarts, etc.
I just try to bypass the Fenway and Pinstripe posts and the jibberjabber on Miracle Whip & Mayonnaise.

Yeah, I don't really care for any Fenway/Pinstrip projections... For the last 10+ it seems that all it is/will be thing since the ACC... Been there done that thing...

However, Mayo/Miracle PopTarts combination is a food thing I don't want to get into. If they come out with one of those PopTart combinations as a result of this, I want to boycott both those bowls too. PopTarts (brand) have already ruined every other good flavor combination and polluted the late GenX up :) Heh The next flavor will be something Vegan (No offense to those that prefer)

I think if it is a top flight bowl against a challenging opponent Kyle will play. He still needs to prove himself And raise his draft position. I think if he plays, Oronde and LeQuint will as well, Also Wax, Diggs and Barron.

So, I think he would play in Gator, Sun, Holiday, and Pop Tarts. Maybe Mayo depending on the opponent.
any other bowl, I don’t see any of our top players playing.
Not enough up side.

Agree here as well. Especially if we pull off the win against Miami and are going for double digit wins.

I agree, I want to see Williams play in the bowl. Of course I want to win our bowl but I think getting Williams and other young guys playing time against good competition is very important

I would be stunned if he plays in the bowl game. I imagine many guys will opt out.

Next week to me is our bowl game. Anything after that is gravy
I wouldn’t be shocked either way. Remember this is not last year when we were completely decimated by injury and in a lame duck interim head coach period.

Good part about the Miami game is we are playing with house money.

We lose, it’s not the end of the world.

We win and we did something awesome.

Miami has EVERYTHING to lose as their trip to the ACC Championship is riding on it.

Let’s go out and shock the world

I might have to uber home after that game depending on halftime...

Its the same at every school sadly. Guys just want to leave, prepare for whatever post college dreams they have and a bowl game just doesnt move the needle

I wish people who are 25-30 years old could have grown up when i did (70’s and 80’s). College athletics were just better. Off the charts excitement literally every day. Now its just a free agency contest. Hard to buy in as a fan. (anywhere not specifically here).

Now its literally a shell of itself and as an almost old timer i just accept whatever happens and dont get super high or low anymore. If we win im beyond thrilled. If we get picked off and struggle it doesnt bother me like it used too.
