Are we middle aged men really calling a kid "Choppa"?
I actually have a (much younger) nephew who has gone by that name practically since the day he was born. Of course, he was called the more formal "Chopper".

Although the word meanings are significantly different, middle aged men have been saying "choppa" for many years now thanks to Arnold ;)

I feel bad for Red that this is the landscape he started out in. Roster construction is way different than it’s ever been
Just be glad this era didn't start in JB's prime, or else we probably would have lost a lot of our historical success. I never say anything bad about JB and appreciate all he did, but it's seems more than reasonable to guess he wouldn't have done as well in this era. Just doesn't seem to suit him and his coaching style. Good time for a transition.

I don't think JAB would be the only "legendary" coach who would have trouble in this new era.

Its why they all retired at once, I don't blame them.
Definitely. Even if you're in favor of the changes (and I generally am, even if it makes it not as much fun to be a fan) would I like to be dealing with trying to rebuild my roster every single year and 'free agency" when I'm in my 70s?? Heck no!

Ouch for Nova, especially this late into the portal wars.

Wonder what happened - wonder was Nova already sniffing the portal?

Nova is a mess - Neptune seems to be struggling this off season. They aren’t even top 70 in the portal class rankings right now and don’t have an impressive freshman class coming in either. All that with them having a GM too

So many unknowns for next year. We could have a good (NCAA) team or we could have a losing record, I have no idea. But I do know there’s several things that need to work out for us to be good

1. Freeman has to be the real deal and have one of the best freshman seasons in Syracuse history (similar to Moten and Melo)
2. Westry has to be 100% healthy and actually better than he was before he got hurt.
3. Moore, JJ, and Cuffe all need to be consistent shooters and elevate their games. JJ especially has to reach his full potential
4. Bell has to learn how to rebound and play defense.
5. Lampkin has to be a dominant offensive force down low and be able to rebound like a beast.
6. Carlos will need to elevate his game at PG and figure out how to guard players at a higher level.
7. Davis needs to fill in all of the gaps

To me there are too many unknowns. While I would love to see everything come together, the last decade of Syracuse basketball would make that scenario seem unlikely. Red has made some odd moves this offseason. The net portal activity hasn’t been great. Syracuse basketball is in a strange place.
Over the last decade we have been impacted by injuries. Last year injuries at a number of positions had a major impact where we had 40% of our roster playing out of position without a legitimate size back-up.

Jesse Edwards Jr. Year we were on a verge of being on the bubble until he broke his wrist against BC.

Under JB previously we were generally lucky to not have major injuries that impacted the regular season results. However, starting in around 2005-2006 injuries began to eat away out our roster. This makes it hard to sustain performance.

I hope this team stays healthy and without losing players. I like our current team but need depth.

From OrlandoCuse above the only points I would adjust is
#4 Bell to continue to improve his defense and rebounding (he was significantly better than his freshman year.)
#6 Need a consistent point guard who can penetrate and kick out to shooters or drivers.
