2024 Preseason Camp Thread

He doesn't have to be a "blocking TE" but he will be a TE in the NFL and will be asked to block a little. Working on it and demonstrating it this year will help his pro prospects. Everyone knows he can catch the ball, and that's what his primary responsibility will be. Let's not over react to a quick preseason practice clip.

Is he going to be a TE like Jimmy Graham was a TE?

Just about every rep regardless of drill I've watched in a highlight this camp has been full speed. It's a little thing but super impressive. I am more excited for the season everyday.

Beats me. That would be cool though. Graham was a bit bigger. Primarily a recieving TE that's asked to block LBs and DBs in space on running plays makes sense to me.

We have better players out wide now, so we can beat the defense at every level. Do you think a LB can cover OG?

OG is a Swiss army knife. He is going to be lined up all over the field.

Great background on his meeting with Marlowe upon being hired. Telling him whether he stayed or left that he needed to get in shape, told him he wasn't an NFL player until he took care of his body.

That was one I hadn’t heard until today. Coach Fran is as real as it gets and it shows in every interview

Defense is gonna be tough as hell. My only worry is cornersbut Coach knows that and is why he is all over them. My thoughts on this year as I have said before is we play in acc championship and get into playoffs but lose cause we dont have the reallylock down guys that Georgia and other top guys have.

Think Simmons and Jaquez both get their names called alot this season. KingJoseph could be pass rush specialist if he's gotten after it in the weight room all Summer as I suspect he has.

We've got some absolute dogs in the DL group as a whole and Jobity is for sure one of them. EFC, Wilson, Nwokocha, and Perry aren't the type to take plays off. Watching EFC progress to this point has been fun but I think he really takes the next step this season.

will be interesting to see what we have given new things asked of players. Diggs obviously is that dude with bunch of tricks up his sleeve but his existence means rest of the oline are 1 v 1. Don't need to always hit the qb to disrupt and we've got guys to push center back on top of him.

Damn I’ve been out of the game for that long huh. I felt like I saw something in years past that they had fans out but time flies apparently.

Dennis Jaquez just needs to stay healthy. This kid is a player, come out of every camp with a solid role. He is my vote for MIP/comeback payer. Coach Williams will be working these guys. I say Jaquez ends up with 6 sacks and has a solid year.
Anyone hear anything about starting corners? Sounds like Barnes is pushing.

I heard Bellamy was the 1 corner and they are having grant,Lewis and Barnes compete but also heard Barnes first day of camp was starting on the opposite side of Bellamy

I have great confidence that McCord will do very well, so don’t interpret this as a knock on him. But in the last few years, we have seen QBs like Dungey, Shrader, and even DeVito to some extent, who were totally jacked. KM looks a little softer. Doesn’t have quite the muscle tone that those guys had. Of course, he’s a different type of QB.

See Manning, Eli and Peyton. At least I think. Haven't seen them without a shirt on.
