2024 Preseason Camp Thread

Said it the two deep thread it’s possible but I do not see Hatcher as a starter. Was running with the second team in the spring game and that was with OG, Meeks out and JRS not on campus. Gill was running with the ones. That’s not even considering the new freshman wrs. Like I said it’s possible but Hatcher would have needed to make a big jump from spring. Good blocker but that is not getting you starting reps on this team.

I wouldn't risk him getting hurt returning punts
You can't think like that. If you're afraid of him getting hurt, keep him on the bench. Did we worry about Marvin Harrison getting hurt, Quinton Spotwood? You put guys where they can make plays. If the coaches think he can impact the game there, I'm for it.

Hatcher as a starter. Surprising. But good for him. Hope he explodes this year

yes really bad. Put Pena back there
Agree. He’s also not the explosive type that we want at that position, unless they are seeing drop issues and want hands.

a WR that we use 5-7 times a game not a RB that we want to use 20+ though.

Do you think that's bad?
I do. WR rotate in and out and we got 5-6-7 deep.

RB we hope to run enough to rotate thru but we only go 2-3 deep

He has shown he can do it so thats fine.

I just can't imagine Willis being #3. Honestly expect him to get first half snaps as #2 RB in game.

a WR that we use 5-7 times a game not a RB that we want to use 20+ though.
Marvin Harrison wasn't just a WR we used 5-7 times a game. He was a stud that other teams had to account for every play he was in the game. Losing him would've hurt that team a lot. And I think a 200 lb, or whatever he is this year, RB can protect himself better than a 180 lb WR. You can't be afraid to play guys. Heisman trophy winners have returned punts. Barry Sanders returned 21 kick offs and 10 punts as a junior. Do you think coaches worry about a guy potentially getting hurt because he's in the game? Coaches that coach like that don't coach very long.

If they put Pena back there, great. If Allen goes back there, also great.

Ok ST had little but Barry.

then again, he was the most dynamic player in the NFL and didn't return stuff.

Marvin running plays he doesn't get hit doesn't really add up much

In our scheme maybe its a great thing.

if you said he was gonna return 2-3 and be dynamic I get the value.

This might have been linked already - good stuff

If im the head coach i dont risk my bell cow. Period.
