4 out of 5 we have lost to Pitt…

Because SU hasn’t been appreciably better than them recently and their play style has proven to be a bad matchup.
 
Just like old times with Dixon. Until SU starts recruiting players with some physicality, they will continue to struggle in the ACC. This might be JB’s softness team ever.
 
Can't beat Pitt in Football or Basketball. Looking over the past 20 years against Pitt they have largely dominated us. We had a couple years here and there when we beat them twice but we are something like 16-24 against them since 2001. They always play physical in both sports and we usually aren't able to match that physicality.

They also apparently are much better shooters than we are. It’s not just being out physicalled

This year for sure. But we primarily looked overmatched physically. Pitt came back to earth from their ridiculous shooting. We all knew we couldn't shoot the 3 this year. We need to find another portal shooter because I don't know where the 3 balls are coming from next year. Maybe more than one if Bell can't figure out how to knock down open shots. Taylor may get there, I think he can. But we can't have one shooter on the floor again next year.

We don’t need shooters . We need players who can also shoot. Not even close to the same thing .

Bell can knock down open shots. We're just unable to get him open shots.

Last night they looked like they handled the ball about as poorly as SU did in 2020-21.

Perhaps we should’ve adjusted our style of play to the opponents weakness and pressured the ball proactively rather than letting them easily bring the ball up the court and find shooters.

If anybody chose not to pressure us last year and instead sat in a passive zone, that would’ve been moronic right?

Well, that was our game plan last night. Because it’s our game plan against literally everybody regardless of what they are good at and what they suck at.

If you wanna torture yourself , check the number of times they beat our zone simply by having guys run into the corners and passing to them for wide open shots before our D could get set up. It’s as if our zone is flummmoxed when teams operate fast against it and don’t putz around with useless passes up top for 20 seconds

What’s crazy is if you , me, Eric, Jake , and Otto formed a team, they’d zone us too.

Koko at least had that bird and his matches had bursts of intensity.

We’re more like Salvatore Bellomo, out of shape , rolly poley , and have to wear an awkward expanded one piece to cover our flaws

In my naive youth I always thought SD Jones was going to win. He would dominate for 90% of the match time and then suddenly lose Vs some move like a small package or submission hold, out of nowhere. I didn’t know if was fake. I was really a fan. Maybe his only one

Nope I was too. Even got his autograph. Once in a while they’d give him a win over another jobber at house shows. Highlight for me.

I usually caught him on Monday nights on USA network. He was almost always up against a big name
