So, the high school team I coach played in the Kickoff Classic today in the Carrier Dome for our season opener vs. Little Falls. Ultimately, we won 53-0, but, that was hardly the reason it was such a great day. I played for a Section III Championship in the Carrier Dome in 1999 and lost. This was my first venture there as a coach.

Standing on the same sideline as so many of my heroes coaching kids that I love was amazing. I've got a ton of photos and videos I'll share in the morning of the locker room and walking out of the tunnel. I'm a fan, no more and no less, so to be able to experience what I did today was a "bucket list" moment for me.

We've got a very good team this year. That being said, whether we make it to the Section Championship or not is a crapshoot. No matter what I'll always have that experience with my fellow coaches and players.

There's not a huge reason for this post, or, any inside information. I guess this is just a post to tell fellow Syracuse fans about how great of an experience it was. I'm a happy man today.

You post whatever you feel like brother. I for one love hearing about this type of stuff!

We should probably have a coaching thread and post everything to it. Yeah?

Congrats on the win man!

I'm with you on the coaching thread! And, thank you, we've got a great group of kids this year.

How'd your weekend shake out?

I know you said you would post photos in the morning and I'll be sure to read it. But I'm curious what you thought of the locker rooms? I've read a few comments on here that would indicate we could use a renovation and upgrade.

I played at a small private D-III school in college with a much nicer locker room... There was a reason for that. I played a St. John a Fisher and my understanding is that the Bills basically built the locker rooms, but, nonetheless, I was surprised by Syracuse's. Many of their facilities have improved greatly as of late, I hope the Carrier Dome locker room is on the list of upcoming improvements. I know they're only there on gameday basically but they can be improved. Relatively cheaply.

Careful, there is at least one former Mountie who posts here...

Congrats on the big win Fin. Are you the HC at Can?

Atta boy, congrats on the big win!

Shafer was there chewing on barb wire rooting you on...

I'll say this, I know the Little Falls coach. He's a great guy, I think he may have been a little upset yesterday. Being the first game with a tough schedule ahead, our 2nd and 3rd units had to get quality reps to tighten up. By the second drive of the third quarter we pulled our starters, but, we had to continue running our offense. Little Falls has a very young team, I'm sure he'll get them on the right track.

I'm not the HC, just a Coordinator... Not being a teacher, it's very unlikely a Head Coaching position at the high school level is in my future. I've been offered HC positions at the JV level, but, honestly I'm not interested for a couple of reasons. One major reason being the majority of your games will be on Saturdays. I think most of you know where I'd rather be on Saturday.

Congratulations on a solid win and a great experience in the Dome!

Good luck the rest of the way.

We had a bit of a rough go. I echo the game as to when I played Mike Hart in high school. Our small class C school was physically outmatched when OCS came to town. It was the same this past Friday night. Here is a video of Nyheim Hines against us. He absolutely tore us apart. He's going to be a great division 1 running back. I'll tell you this though - what an amazing person though. So respectful. He's a stand up kid. I wish him nothing but the best.
