Have you not read the Lally Complex thread? Lmao... we are literally building a $150 million athletic Complex.Honestly, it doesn’t matter all that much unless someone puts a boat load of money into the program. It’ll take investments to be able to recruit here.
Until then it’s rinse and repeat.
1. It’s not funded.Have you not read the Lally Complex thread? Lmao... we are literally building a $150 million athletic Complex.
There’s only one solutionWe don't officially know in what year Dino's current contract terminates. Our best guess is 2024, so I'm using this as the benchmark.
Let's say Dino's contract runs through 2024. You don't let a coach enter the final year of his contract because it's impossible to recruit that way, so a decision needs to be made on Dino no later than roughly November 25, 2023.
This season, Dino has led Syracuse to bowl eligibility for the second time in his seven year tenure. Additionally, his 2017 team was competitive but ultimately lacked depth. His 2019 team had scheme and talent issues. His 2021 team had numerous misses that arguably came down to coaching. 2016 was forgivable and sometimes fun. 2020, perhaps, can be dismissed because of COVID protocols, a very young squad in several key areas, and serious QB issues.
2022, on the other hand, feels like a team on a solid foundation, with depth in numerous places. There's also indications that success could continue into 2023, given who still has eligibility remaining.
So what should Syracuse do here? If his contract runs through 2024, should Cuse reward Dino, or should they wait and see? This also assumes Dino won't leave for another job, which I personally don't think is a possibility, based on his track records here.
Here's my proposal, again with the assumption that his contract runs through 2024. I say extend him through 2025, structured around a pay raise but a more Cuse-favorable buy out. Then, build in a rolling extension, similar to what Mark Stoops gets at Kentucky. That is, if Dino makes a bowl game, another year automatically adds on to his contract.
If Dino can finally get some consistency going, a structure like that should carry him through until he decides to leave or retire.
Thoughts?

Criss cross
Dino coaches hoops
Boeheim coaches football
Ah gotcha1. It’s not funded.
2. I’m talking about annual recruiting budget that is competitive. Money and NIL may actually sway players to come to the tundra.
I wish there was more info on the complex and what it will have in a detailed report. Writers could probably dig and find out if they wanted to
Ah gotcha
Just two FBS teams started the season 6-0 and finished the regular season 6-6. No head coach has been retained after such a slumping finish, with the most noteworthy example being Ron Zook at Illinois in 2011, his seventh season.

Late-season collapses are nothing new for Syracuse football (what they’re saying)

If we lose to BC, fire Dino immediately and that also includes most of his staff after the bowl game. This Orange team needs a new direction for the past eight years, sans one, has been a complete mess and most fans are so tired of Dino’s excuses, the constant injuries, lack of depth on the DL, poor clock management and the ohana nonsense. Dino should work at the ACCN next year and tell his stories about Homer Smith and others to people who might care.If we lose to BC there will only be 2 teams with less conference Ws than us. And it will be the 6th time he has been under .500 in conference.
I agree. It’s unfortunate.Babers is here next year. No matter what
I will gladly take the identity of coastal or Tulane. If you cannot recruit the athletes then we need to scheme our way into w’s it’s been working pretty well for a team like wake.I think we have all seen enough. Babers is not a good coach or recruiter and needs to be gone after this season. I don’t care if he made a bowl game this year. That probably had more to do with the OC/DC the first 6 games. Sure, injuries have happened, but it’s year 7 and to complain about depth issues now is absurd. If you look at the schedule for next year, it can easily be another losing season, but who knows there are so many unknown variables. They would have to hit big in the transfer portal to make me think otherwise, because recruiting has been dog poo.
If SU was serious about football at all they need to cut Babers loose and get a big name coach or the Tulane /CC coaches.
Yep that was the idea when we hired Babers. Maybe next coach…I will gladly take the identity of coastal or Tulane. If you cannot recruit the athletes then we need to scheme our way into w’s it’s been working pretty well for a team like wake.

Yeah forget about Akron, Saban would struggle at that dumpster fire.No hire a coach with solid connections in our recruiting areas.
Mullen or Moorhead. And i dont care how Akron is doing . Or elevate White.
Dino is back next year and i expect him to get an extension but it will be a performance based contract.I'm fine with Dino coming back for another year. If they did make a change, surprised more people wouldn't say Charles Huff at Marshall...
I wish I could get an extension worth millions to be below average at my jobDino is back next year and i expect him to get an extension but it will be a performance based contract.
The key is to keep White
