A Thought on Dino's Contract

Yep that was the idea when we hired Babers. Maybe next coach…
Yea the problem was that the code to the briles offense was cracked, at the time his offense was cutting edge. It no longer is. You need superior athletes for it to be effective these days.

So hire a mid major coach from not our area with a bit of a gimmicky scheme?
Lmao you think we can afford anyone that isn’t a highly regarded mid major coach? What fantasy land do you live in. Jim hardbaugh is not walking through that door.

I don't think Dino should be fired, unless he personally injured a dozen starters.

What was suggested is exactly his profile when he got to Cuse.

we stopped running the briles offense in 2020

The problem is we’re losing almost all of our best players. Can Dino do any better than this year going forward? If Dino somehow gets an extension, the players on Purdue and Virginia who got the 15-yard penalties after they had won the game should get a percentage. Without them, we’re now 4-7. How many years does Dino have left on his contract?

And we didn’t make any mistakes in those games and others?

So 2 bowl games in 7 years is enough for you?
That's not what he said. Fair or not. the AD likely had specific goals for Dino this year with likely the most important being going to a bowl game. Goal was met. While November has been nothing short of painful, my guess would be the AD will also see the number of serious injuries including to our starting QB who through 6 games was considered top 10 stats wise in the country. Further the AD will look at the new coaches on offense a plus and will give them another year to help turn the program. It's possible the AD could blow it all up but I am betting it doesn't happen this year.

A bowl game will keep him around another year, but I still don’t think Dino has improved.

They are tied 125th nationally in penalties per game. He makes terrible in game decisions & recruiting classes are not getting better. Dino might be the type who can do great stuff if given the talent, but he isn’t the do more with less type.

Unless they hit big in the transfer portal, they just won’t have the talent next season. I really hate to be so pessimistic, but I just think he is gone after a losing season next year. So why not bring in somebody new this off-season.

I really think the AD JW's job should be on the line here. The football and basketball program have done absolutely nothing under his tenure, if anything we have regressed. It is slowly becoming evident that he can't make the moves that are required to correct the direction these programs are headed. I very much hope this discussion is being held by the BOD. Its a travesty where these programs are at this point.

But…but…he got the dome a new roof!!

If only JW had come up with a cure for Covid and told Frank Howard not to sniff glue.

Take away 2018 which mostly rested on the shoulders of a kid named Eric dungey, whom was not a identified talent from dino. What has he done that justifies his presence? Iv been an admnit person on the dino train. I believe our programs best path to mediocrity is stability. The development of this season though has shown to me he will never be able to get us even that far on a consistent basis. I’m fine with some losses ( trying to be a realist) but the lack of discipline and no clear cohesiveness in a gameplan and situational awareness is deeply concerning, it has turned into something that might’ve been cured with time and experience to an apparent negative habit.

We have a QB who's last program moved on from because he was specifically NOT suited to hurry up and throwing 50 times per game. Shrader might have worked out at one of the other SEC schools coached by someone other than Mike Leach give him a good line and good WRs and let him tuck it whenever he wants.

It puts a lot of strain on the D when you go 3 and out and take up no time. We might have or had the depth in the secondary and at LB but our DL is too thin we'd go 3 and out and then a team would be able to run the ball on us at will and dominate possession.

And you have to have much better WRs than we do.

During the summer I was very vocal with my concerns about our d line depth and a lot of people were brushing it off. We had what like 5-6 scholarships open going into the season. Taking a couple of grad transfers or people that show athletic promise wouldn’t of hurt.

It's not. If the board wanted JB/Dino gone, then JW would have to dance to this. If JW wanted to make a move from either JB or DB, he'd need buy in from the president/board etc...

Not a ton, don't think we'd get much better no matter who came here, can easily get a lot worse.

Not a lot of schools can sustain losing double digit starters. Outside FSU we've been in every game. Middle of the pack ACC with some playable depth is reasonable progress, esp considering the recruiting desert the school lives in. It's not the most inspirational post but just how I see it.

But that is kind of the point. JW has done nothing, and is doing nothing at this point to correct the current state of affairs. I have no problem withholding judgement until the end of the bowl season to see where both the football and basketball programs are. But something needs to change if things keep progressing in the current direction. If that occurs the BOD needs to get involved. We are going on 7 years under JW, what has he done other reside over the deterioration of the two programs.

I can care less about that. Purdue guy was a clear penalty. Don’t be a meathead. I’m sure we made plenty of questionable decisions in both games.

Look at Louisville and Purdue now. Those are 2 good wins.

Our problem is staying healthy. This can’t be our excuse every year since it occurs EVERY year. So how do we address staying healthy? Hiring a nutritionist is 1. How we didn’t have one a decade ago is mind blowing.

Next, I might be looking at out S&C peogram and that means Edinger. Then again we had the same exact health issues with Shafer and Marrone before him, so does canning Edinger really do anything unless we can find some magical healing wizard that’s changed the laxity of our guys ligaments?

The last way to address this is developing depth. The defensive backfield is deep, but running a 3-3-5 we are bringing in a ton of DB’s so we are due to hit on some. I wish we still didn’t have to address this in year 7, but recruiting under Babers has just been plain awful. I finally like how we are attacking recruiting this year, but jumping around from different regions every couple years doesn’t allow staff to develop real relationships with these HS coaches. We have the productive assistants in White, Anae, Beck, Schmidt, Ligs, Monroe. I would get rid of the rest and hire some guys with recruiting relationships.

Otherwise we are just going to keep up this frustrating display of groundhogs day year after year

We had the injury problem going all the way back to the end of the Will Hicks tenure. It's something inherent in the program. Maybe we are too myopic and it is just as serious as most teams. I think the problem is lack of talent past the starters on the depth chart. Starters are also playing too long and susceptible to injury as players are not being rotated enough. And, in his 8th year, that is definitely on Babers' recruiting.

Don't like it, then make some big donations to the school so that you can tell JW what to do like the trustees can.

JW didn’t hire Dino. Always in back of my mind.

I think if Dino leaves (still don’t see him getting fired), they need to look to northeast not Tulane or some school outside of their area.

I’d be investigating Chesney at HC. Guy has won at every spot he’s back. Similar to Pasqualoni. Guy is the answer. Syracuse is best when run by a north east guy. Similar to BC when they had cowboy jack and coughlin.

Absent that we are doing the definition of insanity thing.
