ACC, PAC-12, and BIG alliance / conference realignment

2 Nd games aren’t going on the ACCN every year.
The Virginia Tech is the only one this year.
Duke 2 years ago.
0 last year.
1 this year.
ESPN gets 5 games every 2 years.
One game a year probably will be the decision.
the 2 i was i was referring to was alabama on sec network as 1 conference and 1 non conference .

You definitely are. Our fanbase is severely concerned about all of this.
What is the Clemson fanbase feeling on Notre Dame?
And these potential P-12 and B1G games annually considering you guys play South Carolina and like to play Georgia often.

2020 Alabama played 1 game on SECN last year. Kentucky
2019 they played 1 game on SECN against New Mexico State
2018 they played 2 games on SECN against Louisana and The Citadel.
2017 they played 1 game on SECN against Mercer
2016 they played 1 game on SECN against Kent State
That is the last 5 years.
They play 1 game 4 times and 2 games 1 time on SECN.

Alabama is not playing 2 games a year on that network.

They like playing ND and want them to join the conference. At the end of the day it's about money.

Excited about it if done correctly as in OSU, Michigan, USC as an opponent. The thought is 8 conference, SC, PAC, BIG, and then G5/another good SEC school.

i was wrong on alabama but since you have so much time on your hands why dont you check the rest of the sec and big ten

The rest of the SEC doesn’t matter.
The networks have enough content to fill their partners and their TV network.
You implied Notre Dame was a key to the ACCN.
It wasn’t. It’s putting lipstick on a pig to claim ND was important for the ACCN.
One football game going from ESPN or ABC to ACCN isn’t getting subscribers.

It’s Disney buddling ACCN on the cable networks to get the networks that draw for them. Plus Disney took ESPN Classic off its sports tier.
ACCN started because ESPN had security the ACC was going to stay together.

The Notre Dame affiliation will end poorly.
They are a parasite.

The more I read and think about this, the less impressed I am. Feels like it's going to be a huge letdown...
You guys batting your lashes at the SEC?

  • Haha
Reactions: gbo
Since the Alliance is for football and basketball could the #41 relate to basketball only seeing that ND is not a football conference member?
And ND fans and its AD never miss an opportunity to assert that ND is not a member of the ACC for football. If ND is not a member for ACC football, ND should not get any perks from this alliance, and as we all will want to play SC, SC should not be allowed to count the ND game as its game vs. an ACC team.

How will they resolve the matter?
It’s non-negotiable for ND and USC.
They are playing each other every year.

Unless USC would play 8 PAC-12 games, ND, and then 1 other ACC and 1 B1G I don’t get your point.
You are kicking the can down the road and want to see it to believe it.
USC is playing ND every year.
Stanford and ND maybe become less frequent unless ND forces the issue.
I can see Stanford agreeing to an ACC rotation USC won’t give up the ND game.
SC is the only true National Name Brand in the Pac. If SC does not play any of us, then Clemson and FSU both need to refuse to play anybody in the Pac. And UNC and Dook need to refuse to play any of that Pac basketball manure.

The SEC has 0 need of a smallish state school in a smallish state that the SEC is already in. A second school in FL is another matter.

What the SEC absolutely does not want is the Big Ten deeply embedded in the South: Miami, FSU, GT, Clemson, UNC, UVA, VT. That is the game changer possibility for the BT.

Swap Syracuse for VPI (who will head to the SEC) and possibly add BCU, ND or a B12 entity and we’re good.

Feels like Tuesday.

You imply 1 game is all it is,there are others sports. ND has been a solid partner in this affiliation vs the bigeast one.your hatred for ND I think everyone knows your feelings.if ND goes or was in bitten we would be the big 12 leftovers or worse the aac

This is doomed unless all three conferences go to 8 league games.
I agree. Not a good sign this was not announced at the big presser.

They shouldn't have even had the presser without all 3 conferences committing to this, as it is the only affordable way to make impactful and timely changes to scheduling.

Agree with Woad and others about ND and that crazy idea about their games against P12 teams counting as ACC games. No way.

Even if ND was a member of the ACC for football, I would be 100% against special treatment for them regarding schools they would like to play, as I am for all ACC schools. No one should get special treatment here. I have no issue with lining up some of the most attractive TV matchups early, but there needs to be a fair rotation set up, where every school gets an equal chance to play every other school.

Schools that can't accept equitable treatment need to hit the road. I understand the B12 has some openings that need to be filled ASAP.

Please state what Notre Dame has done for the ACCN?
You stated they were a key.

Disney/ESPN did the ACCN for what I described. Not because of Notre Dame.
What you said was factually inaccurate. You wanted to give them credit for the fact Clemson/Florida State agreed to sign a GOR and commit to the ACC along with the fact Swofford gave ESPN an extension for an additional 6 years on a great contract for them to incentivize Disney’s cable muscle.

None of this was because Notre Dame agreed to play 5 ACC games annually.
Notre Dame benefits WAY more than the ACC does with this agreement and you way smarter than to spin that Notre Dame was a big part why the ACCN happened.
The ACC doesn’t own the rights to replays of ND home games. NBC does.
When the SECN happened ESPN got rights to CBS SEC replays.
NBC wouldn’t agree to it.
ND didn’t care to help with that.

You don’t need to give them credit for chit that didn’t do.

I have been waiting to see another fan of a charter ACC school wonder if perhaps Jim Phillips is the wrong guy for this time because he might have deeply embedded pro-Big Ten instincts, who would then wonder if perhaps Phillips was chosen by some cabal to succeed Swofford and move the ACC toward some kind of arrangement with the BT.

And now I have seen that on another board.

My guess is that both the BT and Pac have many power brokers who will not want to cut back league games to 8. My guess is that both the BT and Pac will assert that any ND games played against their team must count as ACC games. And only a damned fool will give the BT the benefit of the doubt in any area that involves money and/or TV coverage. Likewise, only a damned fool is not already aware that the Pac has the most outsized, unrealistic sense of self in all of college sports.

So I am leaning hard to the doomed side. The history of the BT tells me that the odds are high that the BT is doing this only to make the BT richer and better able to attract more top football recruits to try to pull even with SEC football. You know precious little about the game today if you think the BT can do that in any way other than taking the key pieces of the ACC and planing the BT flag down the southeast coast.

Yeah but my fanbase is telling me be patient. So don’t worry. It doesn’t matter none of the agreements were put on a signed paper.
Let’s just wait and watch everything will work.
USC will actually do the right thing.
Don’t worry.
