Bear DownIt would be a trip if my son's Arizona Wildcats are in the same conference as Syracuse. My only ask...change the conference name at that point? Tired of the jokes writing themselves. American Coastal Conference with Atlantic and Pacific Divisions.
And as we all know…Cal is still in any game we play! The rivalry has already commenced. The Orange traveled to Berkeley and won in both Football and basketball this season.
I would personally take out one of the Arizona schools, probably ASU, and replace them with Iowa State. They bring more eyeballs than people know. They would dominate the Des Moines market, get a good portion of both the quad cities and also Kansas City (no Kansas doesn't dominate that market, Iowa State is ahead of them IMO). St. Louis is slightly in play but it is more a Missou lean. Even in areas such as Cedar Rapids and Waterloo they are predominant over the Hawkeyes. I don't know anyone in the Dubuque area but with the right push there are a bunch of eyeballs there for the taking. You could really see some growth right here in the heart of Big-10 country.UNLV also in the West. There are plenty of teams to create a western division to pair with the ACC east

Why would you say it’s over? What will happen is some type of merger between the remaining ACC and big 12 teamsThe ACC sucks...we are not adding any teams...get a grip people...its over after 2031
Nah, we have until 2036. FSU is in the red, not Rutgers territory, yet far enough that the overspending AD cannot save enough to buy back their TV rights early and pay the exit fee. Yo know, the exit fee FSU demanded be increased to lock schools in and now cries to too high. The ACC sucks...we are not adding any teams...get a grip people...its over after 2031
Arizona and Arizona State are not separating. Zero chance.I would personally take out one of the Arizona schools, probably ASU, and replace them with Iowa State. Agree. Now, if you want to argue it will fall farther behind the big 2, that is a fair take. But I'd say even until 2040 or so the ACC will exist, at worst, as a 1B tier conference slightly below the big 2 and well above the group of 5. Now VERY long range there is more cause for concern. But I see at least 15 more years of something in the vicinity of the current power structure. Why would you say it’s over? When I lived in old Big 8 county try many years ago, I came to really like Iowa St fans. They are quite passionate. The problem for the ACC is that Iowa St is a clear #2 schools and #2 fan base in a smaller state that produces little talent, especially in football. That is not an optimum addition for the ACC, and that before we even think about maximizing ISU's value likely means you also need its remains old Big 8 rivals: KU, K-St, and OK St. if my choice is that quartet or some TX schools or the MT AAU schools, the old Big 8 schools came in third place.I would personally take out one of the Arizona schools, probably ASU, and replace them with Iowa State. Plus, a key part of the value of having them is their alumni base living in CA.Arizona and Arizona State are not separating. Zero chance.
Yes, I know where Waco is, which is the reason I said the Baylor TV market is just barely south of DFW. What I said about TTU is that the TV market in which the largest number of TTU alums live is DFW - not Lubbock. It does not matter how far Lubbock is from Dallas when all those TTU alums live in the DFW Metroplex.Do you know geography? Waco (Baylor) is much closer to DFW than Lubbock. TTU is a anything but an academic powerhouse with no influence in any major market. U of H is in the #6 DMA (Houston) and has a respectable academic ranking. Lubbock is a mid-size market with no surrounding population of significance.
For someone who wants large state land grant schools, selecting TCU over U of H makes no sense. Further, recommending a lower ranked school than Louisville and WVU with no influence in the state makes no sense. I am not fighting for U of H, but making your arguments does not help the ACC. At least Baylor can afford to buy into the ACC, TTU cannot.
So kind of like rest of the P4 with the Big 12 with 16 schools, the Big 10 with 18 schools and the Southeastern Conference with schools in Missouri, Oklahoma and Texas? If conference names made sense they would go broke buying new stationary every year when the next round of realignment falls in place! It would be a trip if my son's Arizona Wildcats are in the same conference as Syracuse. I hear you. For some reason though, no one blinks an eye at Rutgers traveling to Seattle. But Syracuse and Stanford? Omg yoo much travel!!!So kind of like rest of the P4 with the Big 12 with 16 schools, the Big 10 with 18 schools and the Southeastern Conference with schools in Missouri, Oklahoma and Texas? I am not sure where you get ISU is a clear #2 school, it is not. Years ago that may be true, when I moved to Iowa in 1992 Hawkeyes were indeed king. It has changed drastically, especially in the last 10 years as ISU put more priority into hiring for their sports teams. The engineering and vet programs have flourished while the Hawkeyes claim the medical hospital. Ames has continued to grow, while Iowa City remains stagnant, although the hospital continues to grow. The Des Moines are in general continues to grow, and as ISU teams continue to succeed, their fan base has expanded over the years. The Kansas City region has become a second home to ISU in very similar fashion that NYC historically has been to SU. Also, OK St is no where considered to be a rival anymore, although both Kansas teams still get their fair of hype but no where near what it used to be. The clear top 4 in the Big 12 are Kansas, Houston, Iowa State, and Arizona when you combine both basketball and football. After them I would put BYU and Baylor. Then both Texas schools then the rest. It is a fun conference to watch and has become extremely competitive over the last decade. Bottom line is don't take what used to be and believe it still to be true today. When I lived in old Big 8 county try many years ago, I came to really like Iowa St fans. They are quite passionate.
