If the expectations for the program aren’t to be a contender for conference championships the fanbase needs to calm down

If we accept that we aren’t what we were then expectations have been met.

It’s been 7 regular seasons in a row.
So I don’t expect the program to change.

We are plucky team that can be dangerous in the tournament. Old Syracuse is dead. Our HC seems content to run his system and not go crazy recruiting and bringing in talent to be a top team each season.

His system will maintain us from bottoming out and we will be a bubble team that is dangerous if it gets in the tournament.

We aren’t competing with top teams during the regular season.
Our fanbase has to just accept that and the temperature should cool down.

I don’t believe the assistants agree with how decisions are made but at the end of the day this is the HC’s program.

I agree with everything you said, I just can't bring myself to hit the "Like" button on it. Actually, one nitpick, I'm not entirely sure his system will keep us from bottoming out if our roster for next year continues on it's current trajectory. The next few days/weeks are going to be anxious.

As far as accepting not competing with top teams...I and I hope most here will NEVER accept it. And I refuse to cool down if they don't. No need for a board like this if we "accept" it.

Good try though.

The recruiting got screwed up when the sanctions were put on Syracuse. This portal situation/opportunity is going to rectify that.

Agreed. If we aren’t winning next year the coach deserves all the criticism. 19-12 isn’t good enough. Losing to UVA twice a year isn’t good enough. Getting blasted at Clemson and FSU is not good enough.

We going to be 19-12 type of team.

PG is the most important position in college hoops. Unless Torrence becomes special we aren’t going much different than this year.

I don’t like my post but it’s just an honest acceptance of reality.

I was speaking in regards to roster construction etc...

Until this off season I thought everyone did a pretty good job accepting the way things are. Felt like we had a lot more fun poking fun at our team rather than arguing over how much zone we should be playing.

Yes and 14 loss seasons are the expectation now. JB is 76. That is not changing. He needs to go sooner than later and the AD needs to find a formidable replacement. This is not sneaking up on anyone. JW needs to take the reigns and make sure this is sorted in the next season or two. Full stop.

JB isn’t going to change.
He just isn’t.
He believes what we believes.

If he thinks he has been trying to compete at the top of conference he would actually have addressed our weaknesses by now.

He is doing a good job coaching but JB the GM is letting down JB the coach and it’s not going to change.

Oh, I’ve accepted what you have described is the current state of Syracuse basketball, under JB in this stage of his career.

What I won’t accept is my desire that this should be the acceptable level of results for Syracuse basketball.

I’m a realist that knows this is how it will be until JB retires. He’s not going to change. He’s actually incapable of changing. His lack of adaptability is what is causing the program to slip.

When the Orange came out strong vs. WVU, Raf called the the team "scrappy". "Plucky", "scrappy" - keeping-it-real!

Yikes, this is a tough post. Imagine a Duke, Kentucky, Kansas, or North Carolina fan saying this. Never would happen. Cuse, not too long ago, was very much on par with those schools. Now, not so much... I guess we just have to accept mediocrity according to you...

Normally, when you fall down a peg, and a rich with tradition, you replace the coach. Especially one that has put his program on probation twice.

If you don't like the state of the program as an alumnus or fan and you want to make it known you should put together a sensible email to the AD with your thoughts and let him know. Be professional about it. My sense is he will at least read it. Pretty simple.

Agree: Accept things you cannot change.
We're all just along for the ride. It's JB's train -we don't have to ride it.
I'll question rotations/strategy, but never let the things I disagree with ruin my day.
I follow SU Basketball for entertainment and diversion from life's challenges.
From that perspective, hope Kadary signs with FL State or another team on SU's schedule-
Would be a great story line/game -expect SU would play inspired ball and hopefully win!

I don’t like saying what I did.
It’s just look at the posters circling the wagons they don’t care about reality.
They don’t want criticism.

So people who are frustrated have to accept what we have become.

It’s not going to change.

JB won’t let us suck but we aren’t going to be a top conference team anymore.
We will be a team nobody wants to play come March if we get in.

But November to March it’s going to be up and down.

I have. Wildhack is a good guy but he isn’t going to force JB to do anything. As he shouldn’t.

JB is the one who runs the program the way he wants.

It’s just what I said in the OP is what I feel the fanbase has to do.

This is what I was discussing in the other thread when it came to effort. JB says on the radio that he wishes we were still getting 2 seeds, but he shows no effort to build a roster to do that.
Exactly I watch other teams address their weaknesses in one recruiting cycle.

JB is a great coach when he has talent but we aren’t getting it as much anymore.

Understood, but in writing the note it helps you and it provides the AD with a sense of the fan mindset. Marketing people call it "voice of the customer "...it's feedback and always helpful to those in charge.

That's your reality. I will never come into a season thinking it's not possible that a Benny Williams type can change the dynamic of a team and lift them to a high level especially in the day and age we live in. It may not happen but I will always believe that it can. We've seen it more than once before. So all you "realists", as you call yourselves, can continue to proceed without hope.
