I was at that game. Red got absolutely hosed on that call. I’ve never seen a player as locked in as he was in that second half. An all time performance that would be talked about a LOT more if we pulled that game out.

"There is no doubt in my mind that without Jim Boeheim, Syracuse Basketball would not be the powerhouse program it is today," says Chancellor Kent Syverud. "Jim has invested and dedicated the majority of his life to building this program, cultivating generations of student-athletes and representing his alma mater with pride and distinction. I extend my deep appreciation and gratitude to an alumnus who epitomizes what it means to be 'Forever Orange.'"

This may be the most interesting thing to find out.Does Gerry leave?
Have to do all they can to keep Gerry there. Otherwise will need a mad dash to hire two assistants to recruit. Should give Gerry a raise. This may be the most interesting thing to find out.
If he can get a head coaching job and that’s what he wants - he should go.Have to do all they can to keep Gerry there. Otherwise will need a mad dash to hire two assistants to recruit. Should give Gerry a raise.
I almost wish he had another year.
I try to feel indifferent toward the program, but this is just so sad that this is how it ended. I hope the University gives him a job or something to do. Let him work in the football offices though.
A guy that stayed 5 years past a reasonable retirement age wasn’t forced out. Everyone knows this was long overdue regardless of how it ultimately came to an end. What's interesting is I haven't heard any bball analysts bash the school for forcing JB out.
Been there! Have the photo. Little dude!
What???!!! That legit saddens me. Hope it’s not true.Shawn Kemp just arrested in drive by shooting.
Back to your regular programming.

Agreed. But Griff has coached elsewhere too and obviously knows the game.Autry coached elsewhere before SU he should do whatever he wants with his staff and Gerry and Griffs feelings should not be considered. If he can hire better coaches he can go for it.
He has the keys 100% right now and owes nobody anything other than trying to win games next year for the fan base and add talent.
They both probably wanted the job.Agreed. But Griff has coached elsewhere too and obviously knows the game.
And Gerry clearly knows the game. He’s a basketball guy, period. We don’t need to disrespect those two, whether they’re on the next staff or not.
Lol, sure. That ain’t happening though. Name 3 VT guys?If he wants 3 VT guys fine. It’s his ship.
Griff is a given him and Red are close from what I know. Gerry is the wild card. Not sure how close they are with each other. I personally am hoping Gerry gets a shot somewhere, but if not they would be crazy to let him go.They both probably wanted the job.
I love Gerry and Griff as players and don’t want to hate but if Autry wants to clean house and give himself some space I support that.
He should be allowed to do whatever the hell he wants for assistants. That means if he wants to not keep them then fine.
AD did a good job giving him the full portal period.
There were already rumors a year or 2 ago on one of the local SU radio shows that Red would be the successorSeveral interesting questions remain:
How long ago did the university decide to move on?
Were there negotiations?
When was Boeheim told?
When was Adrian Autry offered?
What have Boeheim and Autry been saying to each other?
Yup!
I wish the Kentucky and UConn games from that year were more easily found too. I’ve never seen the Kentucky game on YouTube or even highlights, and the UConn game is only on that UConn website from their local broadcast or something.
I know Ottomets is a huge fan of that team too, but that’s one of the more underrated really good Orange teams of all time too. After the champs, final four teams, Coleman/Owens era teams that weren’t in the final 4, and 2010/12….that ‘94 team might be the next best?
Yes! 5 starters who could all hoop and 3 studs seems to be the formula! ‘94 team had it!Yes and yes. Five starters who could score in every conceivable way, three guys who could go for 30 on any given night. Possibly my favorite team of all time.
And with Boeheim at his absolute five or so year apex of turning a weird collection of parts into a series of memorably good teams. That's how a master GM/hoops savant handles a bad hand dealt by NCAA sanctions.
