Air Force Gameday...

The stats on that game are eye popping and not in a good way. Monday screams boulder fight.

OSU has 3 goals at half on 26 shots, 6! of which made it on cage. They also have 10 turnovers.

Denver has 2 goals on 16 shots and 9 turnovers.

Denver's D can be scary good but SU should be able to match up well defensively themselves.

4-2 OSU now. Denver is 3 of 8 at the X.

Fyock at 78% in goal for OSU, good lord.

From the little bit I've seen of Denver this season they seem to lack some of the offensive firepower they have had in the past, but their defense looks stout.

We need Joey to have a reverse game and have 8 goals

denver coming off a lost n be at home. Cuse coming off a really unimpressive enthusiastic win. Boys better come out ready n whole lot more hustle heart n head then was today. Miles more.

He had great looks, but he’s never been a high percentage finisher. He had a slam dunk against Harvard that would’ve won that game that he totally blew as well. Without looking, I would doubt he’s more than a career .325 shooter.

This is a game we should’ve had 25 goals. Between his point blank misses, and the lost possession due to sloppy turnovers, there was easily, seven or eight lost opportunities. Not to mention we shot 3 feet over the goal more times today that we have all year.

Despite only having 11 turnovers today, and our turnover total per game decreasing, the ones today were uglier than ever. With no pressure at all, McCool just throws the ball away. At least three times, maybe more, we won the face off, advanced past midfield, and were not under any pressure at all, and Fogos just threw the ball away. We were offsides two times too, again not facing a serious ride when we were. Mcintee tried running by four people. Someone had to be open if four guys chased him, but no pass, and he had the ball poked away which led to a goal 10 seconds later. Then there was the time where we had the ball past midfield, and lackadaisically passed it in traffic, while a player running off on a substitution poked the ball away from us. The last two will count as “caused turnovers”. But they really weren’t. It was just stupidity and laziness on our part.

But my biggest concern still has to be SSDM. Bowen was in quicksand all day. McCarthy got absolutely blown by twice for doorstep goals. Spallina gave up on a play where he was in great position and let Air Force’s guy get his hands-free, I think on their third goal. He literally just stopped and watched as Air Force ripped the shot. Then in the second half he started a slide that would’ve cut off the shooter, but then bailed on it, allowing the shooter to go right to the goal. Close defense has been excellent, but these guys as a group are pretty bad.

Someone else said it best, it’s like there was a keg behind the bench and these guys were just playing in a beer league

Frustrating game to watch. Air Force deployed one of the most inexplicable defenses I've seen in a long time. Syracuse loves passes to the crease - every defense that plays SU well pretty much packs things in and dares them to shoot from the outside. Air Force decided to use a bizarre stretched out zone, that pretty much left the crease open the entire game. SU scored their first four goals on the door step. The last thing you want to do is give Spallina free reign behind the goal ... and yet Air Force seemed fine not putting any pressure on him, which of course led to him having a career high in assists.

That said, Syracuse still managed to make things difficult for themselves. Poor shots from low angles or passes to nowhere had the Orange stalled out. Frankly it's too late in the season for the Orange to still be making these mistakes. It just seems like they are going out of their way to make things hard, and I don't know where that comes from. There is just something I don't completely trust yet with this team.

On the stat sheet, I think they checked a lot of boxes - depth of scoring, Leo had a bounce back game, Angelo had probably his best game, Kellogg came off the bench and added some scoring pop. But it just feels overall that numbers don't tell the whole story. Still waiting for this team to click.

Kellogg was encouraging - I know one of his goals was an open netter, but that shot of his is really something. With defenses that pack thing in, just feels like he could solve a lot of problems if he got actual playing time. Obviously you need to bring more to the table than just shooting, but it feels like he's got something no one else on the roster, outside of maybe Rhoa. Curious if he gets more playing time.

Good stuff and agree. Something just continues to feel off with this offense.

Been hearing Tucker was close to getting some run on the 2nd midline prior to this and its no surprise he was the first guy off the bench. Hope we give him an extended look and see what he can do.

Along with Rhoa, Hahn has shown some nice ability shooting from range. Anderson has been struggling with his shot a little but got back on track yesterday. He has some serious heat on his shot, to the point where it almost looks as fast as Kellogg's. I will have to take a closer look at the Denver game, but if they are still doing a pretty packed in defense like in 2024, I would love to see Kellogg out there on the second line to punish them. I still think Kraftson has a lot of potential, but is probably more comfortable at attack and has not done much as a second line mid. Maybe give Kellogg some run in his place.

Who cares what TF thinks. No Syracuse fan should.
so true plus i told ya he would say the game was closer then score let in or that cuse struggled vs air force. Mean game was never out of cuse hands. Yes they played like shiz n took it very lightly rather then just balling out like should each n every game. But terry is so predictable when comes to cuse. Just always hating n will find anything to try throw salt at us. He prob hoping we lose monday.

Really hope guys wake the hell up n play actual good syracuse lacrosse. Cause this stretch of games is gonna be just as hard if not harder than the previous. And they’re all big games from here on out.

agree. And he probably roots for us to lose every game. He's a journalist?

This is going to be the best camera angle of the UVA/MD game in College Park tomorrow.

One thing i noticed grant only noticed it the one time which was a leo goal. Was finn cut in front of crease n while D followed him leo cut from to push down to opposite side of crease where joey found him for goal. Was just nice n sweet. Hopefully we keep doing stuff like that. Can’t just have finn cutting toward middle by himself just easier for D to cover. Gotta have multiple guys cutting all diff ways specially when D is moving or sliding. But was first time saw leo actually move or make a cut off ball.
