All those talking about letting the coach go

Coach Mac says hello. While he made a bowl game in Year 5 and had some moderate successes in years 3-5, it wasn’t until Year 7 that he had his real breakthrough and then found consistency. Babers has already had a very successful season where we’ve been a top 25 team.
Coach Mac was a lifetime ago. How's Louisville doing? UNC under Mac? Five years is plenty of time to see where we are.

Clearly Dino sucks. Only had one 10-win season here.

Shafer sucked. Never had a 10-win season.

Marrone bolted before he started to suck.

GRob sucked. Only won 10 games in four years.

There's like a 98% chance that the next coach will suck at some point.

Personally, I'd like to keep Dino around. He gives great press conferences.

:):cool::p:rolleyes::oops:

Apples and Oranges:
Llvll and UNC are WAAAAY ahead of us in terms of facilities, program support, current talent, and recruiting future talent.

Neither of those programs was recovering from being a dumpster fire at worst, to "meh" at best for 15 years.
So, it was a lot easier to plug & play a new HC and start to get some results quickly.

Syracuse Football didn't get "there" under Mac for a LONG time.
And while he had the amazing Nebraska upset fairly early (not unlike Dino w/ Clemson), it still took a few more seasons for us to break thru and become ranked in the Top 25.

If you look at the long history of Syracuse Football, there are extended periods of us being pretty meh.
And a few pockets of greatness:

Schwartzwalder (but not at the end), Coach Mac, and now Dino has finally at least had 1 year where we won 10 and got back to being ranked again.

Even during Schwartwalder's tenure, there were many lean years.
He had ONE Top 25 team during his first 6 seasons, in year 4.
His teams were ranked about half of the seasons he was coach, and he went 2-7 in bowl games.

We were ranked 3/10 years during the Coach Mac era.
Which took him until Year 7 to achieve.

And Coach P carried that torch for 10/14 years he was here, but clearly fell off at the end.

Anybody in the "Fire Dino" or even "Hot Seat Dino" camps, need to get their heads examined.
It is REALLY HARD to win consistently at Syracuse.
Always has been, always will be.

Definitely still all-in on HCDB, just think he needs to make some adjustments with his staff. Not sure the program has recovered from losing Sean Lewis on the offensive side. Hard to assess this year's offensive coaching given constraints imposed by injuries and lack of experience/depth. The defensive side cries out for a major overhaul and new philosophy. And an emphasis on fundamentals - so tired of missed tackles, blown coverages and bad pursuit angles.

An uptick in recruiting is clearly necessary. I'm hoping the investments the university is making in facilities (and hopefully staff salaries) will bring in better talent and allow us to field a more competitive team down the road.
