Alton Robinson

He’s staying. He’ll play himself into first round consideration next year.

I think this will happen, he will buy an insurance policy and go from a mid rounder this year to a legitimate first next season, (see Chandler Jones)

Wake was the third game this year I've had to listen to on the radio.

Wow.

It's weird. Park is beyond difficult to listen to: slow with down and distance (when he offers it at all), often losing track of play by harping on some old opinion he's offering, and he's constantly losing the important tidbits in the barrage of irrelevant stuff he's talking about.

I don't get it.
Totally agree. It was an awful listen to the point that I wanted to jump onto XM and listen to the Wake (home) feed. Park is awful.

you just can't follow along and get a mental picture of the game because he's so bad with things like down and distance.

On 1st and 10 he'll be like, "Neil EXPLODES through the line" and then as the ball is about to be snapped for the next play you'll hear that it's 2nd and 9 (if you're even lucky to get a down and distance update.)

Before my Satellite subscription expired I would listen to the SAT channel with the opposing broadcasters. Park is that bad imo.

LOL I just said that''s what I have to do.

if you think Park is awful you dont flip thru enough games on a weekend.. i wouldnt say he is the best but he is in the top 25% of the radio guys.. not even close to the worst. shoot listen to the NFL radio guys, many of them are really bad.

I think Matt is good. He's on shortlist for Westwood One NCAA tourney games if Cuse is not in tourney. Westwood only uses the best pbp guys. I enjoy the radio broadcasts with Matt and Adam Terry and Chris Gedney before Adam.

He's obviously well-liked by his network and by the people he teaches.

That's why I say it's weird. Because subjectively (in terms of things like describing the game in a way that listeners can follow), he does a poor job. But a lot of people who know what they're talking about are willing to hire him.

I'm not arguing for or against him, though I'm kind of surprised that he's been in the job so long when it's so startling to me and other people how difficult it is to listen to his play-by-play. I don't have a ton of radio exposure. But when I listen to Howie Rose in the summer, I know exactly what's going on. When I used to listen to Doug Logan, I knew exactly what was going on. With Matt Park, everything's fuzzy (with four parts "Strickland will not be denied!!" against one part "third and short for Syracuse," and often in exactly that order).

He’s way better at basketball. Seems like he sucks down red bulls before those games, whereas he’s slow as molasses for football. Also, he’s hardly the homer that 80-90% of teams employ for radio.

What I’d give to hear Doug Logan though, at least a few times

Bring back Mark Johnson!!!;)

His fake enthusiasm was so unpleasant. But if memory serves, his play-by-play was good enough.

This could be part of Park's problem: his job is to provide the facts. The color guy's supposed to have leeway to go berserk here and there (anyone remember Jim Ridlon's schtick on the air?). But Park spends a lot of words, it seems, on that sort of stuff at the expense of the play-by-play.

He is really good at calling hoops.

radio guys said Alton was injured late in the wake game - was there anything to that? You can never tell with Park he's so bad.

(Off topic but I want to slit my throat when I have to listen to matt park. he harped on Fredericks unsportsmanlike for 20 minutes ... "what was he thinking", "he's lost his mind." it was sort of weird how much he harped on it actually.)

He was back in and playing the last series of the game. Just a hunch, but I bet Mo Neal will be fine as well.

As a kid before all of the games were televised, I used to listen to the students on fm 88.3. I actually liked them more then Doug Logan.

Park was a decent color commentator with Mark Johnson. But is a horrible pbp guy.

We had a major defensive stop at a critical point of the game and he was napping with a long gap of silence and no show of emotion either.

You have no idea what’s going on with him at the helm.

Hope Shy is there too. Really do.

No doubt! He seems to be working his way in there more. Contributing at LB, great on specials. Those kinda of players are very valuable.

Looked like a hamstring, no? Hopefully it was a cramping issue and not the dreaded lingering hamstring pull

Based on him coming back, cramping would make sense.

Those owies are adding up a bit as the season progresses. I can't stress how important it is for SU to jump ahead of Louisville and get the starters some rest and also it's nice that it's a Friday to give these guys an extra day.
