Angeli has arrived

Loved what I saw of Angeli in the CFP. But no one that is not on the coaching staff can have any idea which if these kids wins the job. Whichever does win it will have to have proven something in practice to beat out the other one. I think the trepidation some have about Collins is he sounds a little like Del Rio-Wilson. Different QB, different guy that has his own opportunity. I don't have a favorite and can see both QB's seeing some time but not a full 2 QB system.

Not sure that I've seen anyone express that concern.

Sounds like Collins has the yips.

Lot of stereotypical tropes I'm starting to see popping up here when comparing Collins with Angeli...

Because he got hurt before the spring game, it's giving people the ability to throw nonsense out there.
I do think Collins not playing in the spring game massively warped perception of him, and not in a favorable way.

Agree 100%. With no evidence of his play on the field, it's hard to feel totally confident abut how he might have looked in spring practice with Fran grabbing Angeli out of the portal as soon as he could. Probably not fair, but it's hard to shake that idea.

And if he somehow does manage to beat out Angeli for the starting position, I think we're in a really good place.

Two very good QBs. Depth behind them has talent. Season is going to be a gauntlet. We are really fortunate that the QB room is solid and we have a QB coach and OC that can adjust based on the skill sets of each QB. I think we are in very good shape.

I was told by a very good source that Collin’s is a great athlete with a strong arm but hasn’t mastered the mental aspects of the game and is unlikely to start. He is one of the reasons that Pena left. It’s Angeli’s job to lose

I honestly don’t think the staff brought Angeli in with the thought of him being the backup. Now, if he looks ok in fall camp but Collins looks incredible, do I think they will ignore that and start Angeli? Of course not, but I think they are counting on him beating Rickie out and looking very good doing it. With our schedule and all the young guys we have, we need a steady veteran(relatively speaking) at QB.

He is a pretty young guy and just got here in the beginning of the year and probably missed some reps at the end of spring with the injury. So not entirely surprising I guess. QB is mentally demanding position. Hopefully its just things that will come with some more time here in this offense. Angeli just getting here in the summer doesn't leave much time for him to pick everything up. Hopefully he is heavily in the playbook.
