Any sort of Fan Fest for ‘22?

Get a sponsor and use the event as NIL and pay athletes from sports other than football. You would get all kinds of help. Get creative. Give volunteers a $20 food voucher at a game. There’s a lot of ways to get help. I would even drive two hours to help at the event. I would bet the coaches don’t want to waste a day for this event, but who is in charge?
help is not easy to get no matter what you offer.

My oldest son, is already planning how he is going to make it back from Canisius each weekend there is a home game. He hasn't even moved into his dorm and he's thinking about how to get to SU football games. My youngest son(14) didn't attend a single game last year and has not shown much interest this year despite playing JV. The program already lost him at this point. Given the amount of time and money I've invested as they were growing up, that makes me sad. I doubt I'm alone. And they didn't just lose 1 fan, they lost his branch of the family tree, most likely forever. Short-term vs long-term investments.

Your oldest kid is in College already?

Holy crap, did we get old.

To be fair, weren't COVID restrictions only lifted a couple months back at SU and cases still kind of hanging around? Makes a potential event like this higher risk, lower reward. Imagine risking Tucker, Berg, Shrader, GW, Duce, Mikel, etc being out due to a fan event? Have to think ticket sales have lagged as well for same reason. Some still don't/didn't feel safe and some simply weren't allowed to attend until after tickets went on sale.

I kinda figured the fanfest in summer got replaced with the " spring game" so I am not surprised. One is a requirement, one is not

there are always going to be cases with viruses of this type

I don’t have a problem this year. Louisville is the bowl and with the new offensive staff I have no problem keeping it under wraps and not wasting time with a vanilla workout
Aye, and it’s not like Fanfest has people flocking to the ticket office.

Correct and NY was much more stringent than most. Regardless what one feels is right or wrong it's a much bigger ship to turn around vs states/schools that didn't have such stringent policies. With a handful of all ACC players this season and some careers this season hinge on, any risk that can be mitigated is understandable.

The coaches need to be in charge of their practice schedule and practice time.

That's incredibly dramatic.

The team needs to play in December and heaven forbid January. That's what matters.

Why is that incredibly dramatic?
What's the point of being a P5 school? Getting these monster annual payouts; only, to play the Sisters of the Poor card when it comes to these type of activities.

That’s harsh.
Everybody here can agree we want the team to succeed and have good to great bowl game opportunities.
But to enjoy it with friends and/or family are what great memories and lifelong, diehard fandom are built upon.

Do you know why they aren’t doing it?

We have a grand total of 5 P5 wins since Dungey left so may not be much of a point.

Are all the ACC teams having a fan fest?

who cares?

if SU does it year after year and suddenly stops... who cares if NC State is having one or not?

Consistency matters on the field as we all know... so does off the field. These are small, easy wins that the AD simply chooses to ignore.

I just looked and couldn't find one for BC or Pitt. Didn't do a great search but it doesn't look like either are doing one this preseason.

Pitt is making the game against WVU a ribfest and it is a sell out.

Coincidence?

I think not.

If we want to sell out the dome, we need to leverage the power of the rib. ;)

I don’t think the AD just ignored it. I think Dino felt with all the new moving pieces namely a new offense being installed, he felt his teams practice time was better spent elsewhere. And I’m perfectly ok with that.

I'm pretty sure this is Dino's call. He does not want ANY distractions, there is a lot riding on the season. We are "lucky" to have interviews with the players after practices. This may have been his compromise.

Winning is what will sell tickets.

Let’s see if Dino has figured out more effective time management.

Just let Anae, Beck, and White take care of the actual games. That's why you hire good assistants, so they can manage the game, and make you look good.
