Any sort of Fan Fest for ‘22?

In an era of NIL too, its an opportunity to raffle and sell player merchandise.

Even if it is season ticket holder families going… how many are walking away with player merch given the excuse to buy it?

No can do

When I was a youngster I used to go see the Pats practice at Bryant College. This was the 80s when the Pats were typically not good, to put it mildly, but it was a tremendous experience and definitely was one factor in developing my fandom.

SU really should do something, but it sucks that it has to come at the expense of an actual practice. Time is so short pre-season, I'm not surprised that a head coach -- all of whom are some flavor of weirdo, paranoid, control freaks -- wouldn't want to do it if given the choice.

Still, having one event would be nice. Not only does it help connect the community to the players, it also helps connect the players to the community.

Damn. Never mind on that then
That has to be wrong. Now that there are co-licensing deals with players gear that include the SU logo, legally, that certainly seems a possibility. They sell Tucker stuff already with I’m sure more to follow. In fact, they just came out with Shrader and someone else as well.

The licensing deal allows players to use the SU logo on their clothing items. I haven’t seen a Tucker or Shrader item for sale by SU. Where did you see that?

Syracuse bookstore is selling Tucker shirts

Wonder why all the players are selling their stuff through those locker type companies. There’s been links posted here for various players. If SU could sell that type of stuff they would I’m sure. Maybe this stuff is ok because its just cheap replica tee shirts.

You’re right and he is wrong. Alabama is partnering with Fanatics to sell NIL merchandise and memorabilia inside their stadium at home games this year.

Most of the players merchandise besides Tucker’s seems like it would be printed or personalized on demand. Who’s merchandise would be prepared for sale? It doesn’t seem fair to do it for some players and not others.

That’s not Alabama selling the NIL merchandise. Read the full article. But it is one way to get around the rules.

I can’t find it now but someone posted an article saying the ncaa was going to think about a couple changes to nil with one being allowing colleges to be involved with a player getting nil deals. Right now they can’t be involved.

Couldn't something be organized outside of practice so Dino wouldn't lose one? Players could voluntarily attend, sign autographs, and sell merch. They wouldn't have to attend but it would benefit anyone trying to take advantage of NIL opportunities. The university could send Otto for some good will.

A post said fan fest would be an opportunity to sell or raffle NIL merchandise for players. You said “no can do”. That was wrong. There 100% could be a tent or booth set up at fan fest to sell NIL merchandise or memorabilia. Schools are literally building out space to do exactly that within their stadiums for all home games and fan fest events.

SU can’t sell players NIL stuff. And neither is Alabama or anyone else. What Alabama is doing is leasing space to Fanatics. Players have NIL deals with Fanatics not Alabama.

If I didn't get that luggage tag at Fan Fest a few years ago I would never be able to find my bag at the airport! Does this Athletics Department ever think about the business travelers?

The Athletic Department better start a last minute marketing push to hype up this season and the first game...11 days away and I really haven't seen anything at all. My feeling is that attendance is going to be pretty low for Louisville...

Can they assist the players by setting up a few pop up tents and letting the players sell it themselves in a meet and greet type format?

Get a sponsor and use the event as NIL and pay athletes from sports other than football. You would get all kinds of help. Get creative. Give volunteers a $20 food voucher at a game. There’s a lot of ways to get help. I would even drive two hours to help at the event. I would bet the coaches don’t want to waste a day for this event, but who is in charge?
Here is my two cents. I am a life long fan, I was an usher in 1959. When season tix were reduced in price t0 $99, I asked my two kids in Syracuse if they were interested. None were, my son in law said he liked college football and would go when SU played football.

Part 2 of my rant. I went to the Spring game of Dino's first year. I drove up from South Jersey - 5 1/2 hours. I got there in plenty of time but we were all directed to a single lot and the traffic jam was terrible. I missed the first half of what ever they had planned. Didn't matter, it sucked. I'd rather go to a high school game. That was the end of me going to Dino's so called Spring game.
" When they win they will come." It might be true but we might never know. I used to go the the Spring ganme regularly in Mac's days. The Lax team would also play Hobart after the game. Always great fun. Now just a waste of gas and warming the planet.

Should have attended the spring game this year.

It was much better than years past and felt legit.

I’m assuming going forward, it will be this way.

Meeting of the players on the field after the game was also awesome

With so many students having co-licensing deals with the university, selling gear WITH the trademarked block S, why can't they? A birdie may or may not have told me that some of this merch will be available within the walls of the Dome.

This was driven by the ACCN televising all the ACC spring games and I agree, given the need to put on a good show for television, future spring games should be a lot more interesting and worthwhile.

This is one time television actually helped the fans.

Don’t really know but I don’t think so. But I’ve seen nothing with that kind of detail.

There’s not a college I know of that is selling player NIL merchandise themselves.

And this stuff that will be available at the Dome, is it SU selling it or someone else like Alabama is doing?

This is Elmores merch. Why can’t it be bought in the bookstore now?

As an aside to NIL, has anyone heard how that NFT deal is working out, if at all?

I do not know.

I do know that we still do not have a deal set up for users on this website with NFT. We are available NFT creators. PM me. Let's make some money!

Pretty sure we can do a capture of the image and use it as our avatar. Pretty sure we would be the first message board in the world doing this kind of cutting edge stuff.
