Seeing how the original thread deteriorated into a pissing match, can anyone confirm if there is any truth to this claim?

Yes, that is how you spell their last names.

:)

Brent Axe reported that Marrones office stated that "all coaches" are currently under contract and did not report any terminations. He said Marrone is out recruiting and unable to speak to him directly.

Yes there is.

Personally, sad to see Conley go.

Great guy. Passionate about Syracuse football. This was his dream job. He must be crushed.

Bold statement, I know, but I doubt it matters much in the long run.

I doubt Marrone and this staff lasts more than another few years.

This was a crucial year for the program. Needed to get back to a bowl this year and build on last year's growth.

Hoping I'm wrong.

Doug is a nyc ass. The first time i met him i thought he was great. My dad didnt think so Just didnt have a good feel about him and my father was close to Ben. Firing Con is a huge mistake and in my opinion is Doug pulling a power play. If he has two more years i will be surprised

I have been ripped for saying it in the past but DM the player could never play for DM the coach. Mac bailed his ass out of serious trouble on the down low more than once. I see him now and forget who I am listening to sometimes.

That said, how is firing Conley a power play? He had trouble getting hired anywhere outside of tiny programs before he got to SU so perhaps he just wasn't very good at anything other than being an alum.

Don't most coaches start out in smaller programs and work their way up? As far as his coaching results, how can anyone criticize him with what he had to work with. Not a great recruiter, but not a terrible one either from what I have seen.

Why is firing Conley a mistake?

Because it's something Marrone did, and everything Marrone does is wrong.

Duh.
I wanted to see if it was because he was a "syracuse guy"

We don't know if it's a mistake.

Just like we didn't know it was a mistake when some people said Ryan Nassib was an NFL quarterback.

Some things become evident only with time.

We do know that the optics are bad at a time when they can't afford any more blemishes on the program.

You realize Nassib is held in high regard by NFL scouts and if he left this year would probably be a late round draft pick?

Just checkd the nfl draft boards... there is truth to nassib being highly regarded

I suppose the Tebow craze has helped a college quarterback who can't throw a deep ball within 10 yards of an open receiver.

I'll grant you that Dan Orlovsky is still on an NFL roster. Then again, he was a much better college quarterback than RN.

If Ryan sticks on an NFL roster, I'll vacuum the field turf in the new indoor practice facility.

I think next year might be it. I just don't think we have any better talent than GRob era. We have a lot of decent 2-3 star recruits who plays hard but not enough to win big imo. Win over Rhode Island was a perfect status of Doug's year 3. Not that good. his recruiting, on paper has been very mediocre. I hope I'm wrong too.

well, if that's true, then it's an even bigger indictment of this offensive system and the playcalling

as of this morning Brumbaugh and Conley are still listed on the coaching staff

Eh?

Nassib is 6'2, 229 he has an NFL body. He has a good arm. He has decent pocket awareness. He just has to hit open receivers. I'm sure most NFL coaches would draft him as a project.
