Anyone else concerned

I have watched every second of every bowl game so far.

Many people watch bowl games, because many people bet

Its hard to watch more than 110-20 games on a say during the season so numbers get stretched out. Not that hard to watch 2-3 games a day during bowl season

it will be out most watched game by a mile, the viewership numbers may not reflect it but it will be. Because every bar will have our game on, while during the season almost every game had a dozen others on to compete with.
Excellent point, and it’s a Friday night during holiday season.

Dude, I do this for a living. Have some humility.

p.s. Bar viewing counts in the ratings.
See I’m lost , I didn’t see this post as contradicting you , I believe you, rather just saying the ratings aren’t going to be horrific and also the WSU portal problems most likely won’t have huge effect if any .

yea. but its not a real number, even less than home viewership is.

There is a lot of bowl action that has not and will not generate interest beyond the loyalist.
I've trended opposite. I will be watching the "lesser" bowls, especially for non-P4 teams, exclusively.

I personally don't mind that this will most likely be a blowout; last year we suffered the worst loss in FBS bowl history. IDC that many of you said it didn't matter, it did. Block S.

Now we will get to be the hammer instead of the nail.

And yes this counts (obviously) and it will be the most watched game of the entire season. Even more than the Miami game. Prime time on Fox.

LFG.
How sweet would it be to wipe away last year's hideous record by setting a new one with us on the W side of things? Full circle. LGO.

Since I know a little something about this topic...

It won't be. And the Boca bowl was not our most-watched game last season.

Last season our games vs. Clemson, Florida State, Purdue, BC and UNC all drew more viewers.

This year there were 11 FOX prime time games that drew less than what we drew for the Miami game.

We'll get a decent viewership for the bowl, relatively speaking. But I suspect our Miami, Stanford and Pitt games this year will have outrated it.
You know what, you're right. I did look at all the ratings from last year but I made a mistake reading them. Thanks for the correction.

I thought our 61-6 loss to Alabama in the 1953 Orange Bowl was the worst loss in history.

I've heard some say that Boca was the worst because we were shut out but yeah, you have an argument for sure. Bigger differential.

I believe our $6.5m goes to the ACC to be part of the bowl pot that then gets distributed equally. So we’d get about $400k for this bowl. I think only the CFP participants get a larger cut of their bowl payouts.
When stated like that where’s the financial incentive for fielding a good team if all members get an equal share of the pie?

Every Saturday from Noon to midnight i’ll watch the 4 game split screen option on Youtube TV. That’s 4 games for the noon, 3:30/4, 730:800, and if there is a 10:00/10:30 game/s. Plus Thursday or Friday game. I wonder how they factor in that viewership? Last Saturday already sucked with no college football.

I don’t think it will be the most watched game of the season.
I think it will be.

Current best is 2.11 Million vs. Miami... The only post-christmas bowl last year that was below 2.11 was the Fenway Bowl at 11 a.m. on Dec. 26. Holiday bowl last year got 3.5 million.

The “it will be our most watched game by a mile” was a teeny tiny contradiction. ;)

It’s a real number where I work.
I am fascinated by ratings. Nielsen ratings always made me skeptical as I would assume that information is extrapolated to include the masses (but I could be way off). I am not asking for super specifics, but can you explain how is viewership accurately measured?

Game is a week away.

Stating the obvious here, but not sure how they are going to field a team.

Let alone the coaching aspect of it, having lost their HC, OC, and DC.

Crazy.

Not sure how they would queue up a replacement.

Because we get a cut of the other bowls too. It’s the sum that counts.

i am with you on this. I still am not 100% confident this game actually gets played. Eventually you lose enough guys they arent going to just throw 15 walk ons out there. Really takes the luster out of this game sadly.
