Anyone know what’s up with SUfootball NIL

that’s not quite right and a stretch. it’ll be fixed and guys will be paid. Worse case scenario we lost a few whales but not all. The reason you see all the instagram posts is because meiers creek is still in and they’re a big donor. So keep supporting them.
Sounds like the players who are still in no matter what can also hopefully play a role along with the admin to get everybody going in one direction.

They should break bread and hash it out in Caz.

The way it was explained to me is that there was a true up process through which all remaining contractual obligations were paid. Included in this were some football contracts that OUC fronted the money for against anticipated future donations. I do not know if Syracuse had to pay any termination charges per the contract or if they could terminate for convenience with no obligation. All remaining funds were turned over to SU Athletics. I would guess they were credited to the ChampionCuse Athletics Excellence fund. I don’t know if Orange United donations earmarked for specific sports retained that designation post termination.

Originally I was upset with the termination. Process was in motion to transition Orange United to Blueprint Sports so things could have continued and the termination essentially killed the NIL work we did through SyraCRUZ and the Fine Mess. I considered taking over the administration myself as I had done the first two years, but frankly I partnered with Orange United because the administrative burden had become pretty intense and moving tens of thousands of dollars through my personal bank accounts was something I was no longer comfortable doing.
After doing some research on BPS and the much more demanding terms they imposed and reading about issues at other P4 schools I came to understand SUAD’s position.
This is why you are the consigliere

Yup. Maybe a good thing if if forces the school to dedicate resources and take it over themselves. What they should have been doing.

Right, rumors and things are fluid at the moment, but concerns seem real... Blair and Wildhack have a fun week ahead, that is for sure..

On Meirs, that is what I figured... They are supposedly on the board of the collective so there must be some divisions even within that group.

Here's hoping Blair and Wildhack can get all egos back in the boat quickly and hand them all paddles...

Colby and his group are in a word amazing. Great guy great group. I'm a huge fan of his.

If Fran wins and moves on to a bigger program so be it. At least it means we probably had a couple good seasons.

As of now he is one more train wreck season away from being fired from SU and back to being a position coach.
The problem is he will gut the team on his way out. Recruits are not coming here to play for Su they are here for Fran. When he leaves there won’t be anything left and we will be back to grob era another total rebuild. If Su is serious they need to lock him up long term and give him everything he needs. Make him prove what he says and that he can win here. If he doesn’t truly believe that then he won’t sign and will be dead man walking

Every coach is one more train wreck season away from being "back to a position coach".
I think most would go back to being a coordinator or a coach at a lower tier team. Fran probably wouldn’t have that option seeing how he was never a coordinator and he would have failed his first shot at being a coach.

Too bad I don't live local. I feel like my functional alcoholism could really benefit the program.

It was incredibly poorly run. They charged a fair amount as an admin fee and still couldn’t make it work. I’m sure some execs and others came out fine but in hindsight, we never should have done a deal with them. They claimed all the overhead would go to creating content and all this stuff….but nothing was ever created.
We were in good company then as SANIL did deals with over 70 D1 schools, many of them P4. They and Blueprint essentially owned the market. Other enterprises, like Opendorse which is really a Cameo-like one-to-one based platform are very niche oriented. Since SU Football NIL had zero interest in supporting other sports and BPS fees were roughly double SANIL’s it was the best option at the time.

This year is going to be a big one. I believe he learned a lot from last season. The talent on this roster is better than it was last year, and we also have more experienced players who produced at the lower levels of college football. On top of that, this might be the best freshman class we’ve ever brought in. If the team has the kind of season I think they can have, all the talk about firing Fran will finally quiet down. Hopefully after a another great year we can get even more support with NIL through donors and etc.

Look at all the "special advisors" at Bama over the years. Nowhere close to a sure thing to immediately get re-hired. Using it as a drum to beat up Fran is weird to me.

Blair's first, second and third order of business (after hiring the hoops HC) is to get SU's compensation situation sorted out. There's nothing more important.

I'm deeply disappointed in so many of our big money boosters. They're proving that they are not Syracuse fans (and have been proving that for several years now). Rather, they are (a) fans of themselves, and (b) fans of a select group of others.

Rich people are constantly aggrieved. Such hyper-sensitive babies.

Fortunately, this seems to be Blair's wheelhouse. Ironically, it could be a blessing in disguise given what transpired to put him in the seat. I'm looking forward to how this plays out under his leadership.

Does anyone know if SU has reached out to Micron ? They're going to a 100 billion dollar in the next 12 months. I couldn’t imagine being any more fortunate having this company being here in CNY. 10-20 million annually would be chump change to them
SU is aware Micron is coming.

They have hosted conferences for them. They are adding courses and professors specifically for Micron.

They have been in since day one.

Micron and SU already have a relationship spearheaded by Haynie. Currently it revolves around academia and curriculum development to help train the workforce Micron will require.

I will say this, revenue sharing is different than NIL.

The stuff that SUfootball NIL is doing has to be done outside of Syracuse.

Syracuse can only be responsible for 20 million of money to players across ALL sports.

Most of these big NIL deals you are seeing are happening through the collectives. They are as important if not more important than revenue sharing
