The way it was explained to me is that there was a true up process through which all remaining contractual obligations were paid. Included in this were some football contracts that OUC fronted the money for against anticipated future donations. I do not know if Syracuse had to pay any termination charges per the contract or if they could terminate for convenience with no obligation. All remaining funds were turned over to SU Athletics. I would guess they were credited to the ChampionCuse Athletics Excellence fund. I don’t know if Orange United donations earmarked for specific sports retained that designation post termination.
Originally I was upset with the termination. Process was in motion to transition Orange United to Blueprint Sports so things could have continued and the termination essentially killed the NIL work we did through SyraCRUZ and the Fine Mess. I considered taking over the administration myself as I had done the first two years, but frankly I partnered with Orange United because the administrative burden had become pretty intense and moving tens of thousands of dollars through my personal bank accounts was something I was no longer comfortable doing.
After doing some research on BPS and the much more demanding terms they imposed and reading about issues at other P4 schools I came to understand SUAD’s position.
