point of clarification here: by federal law the collectives can’t be run by the athletic department.

Collectives are for above the cap money. SU handles the 20.5. Collectives have to handle everything above

That’s what the House case was all about.

Also the football donor that runs it isn’t Lally to other posters points

It should be run by a third party. I understand it has to be outside the University.

Can you name me a collective that’s run in-house by a school? Not trying to be argumentative, but that’s not at all what my understanding was from reading up on the House case last summer.

I’m not an expert on this but I believe the csc loosened the rules and allowed some more formal collaboration between collectives and the universities. For example they can provide staff or administrative support and help facilitate business introductions etc. but others would know more.

This all seems pretty stupid, and I’m kind of embarrassed I care enough to read and post about it.

We should find corporate support to replace individual donors (obviously easier said than done). Seems like it’d be more transactional and less feelings and egos.

I think I might let my major donors who are paying my football team who drives the bus, maybe at least a heads up you aren’t going to hire their candidate.

Yes, the business introductions, definitely, because Fran had that local business NIL summit thing last year.

I wish I knew everything going on here, but I will say based on these tidbits if these egomaniacs with the money can’t stop meddling and Fran leaves, etc I am done with SU sports and will find a new team. -this I was hanging on a thread as As a long time Su Fan growing up in CNY and later as an alumni. If they can’t do what’s best for the school and football. I’ll take my time and energy somewhere else
