Anyone want to defend that TO by Babers?

You either give the ball to your best RB in 40 years or go for a 48 yard FG to tie with a struggling kicker. This wasn't a difficult decision. If they stop Tucker, you live with it. Always err on the side of aggression. And how does this decision jive with Dino's decision to go for 2 last weekend? He's literally played terrible hands for 3 straight weeks.
last week we couldnt slow wake down and this week clemson was controlled for most of the game

Exactly this! Trust your guys to make plays, they will play harder for you.

Oooo i have an idea, maybe it's the quintupple Manhattan i poured after the game talking, but let's get a 'Champion of Choke' belt. Its like miami's turnover chain, except its for Dino every time he chokes under pressure

Maybe it's the Manhattan?

Hes the mush

Slept on it and its still indefensible. Kicking the fg is a fine decision. More poor then good given you have 2 bulldozers to try and get 1 yard and a kicker who is under the mendoza line from 40+ this year. But at least its a somewhat normal thing to do. Sending the kicker out right away then calling a TO and then still kicking it and leaving plenty of time to lose just like the FSU game is truly terrible.

Best RB in football on 4th and short and we don’t go for it…..love Andre but he’s not the Freshman Year version of himself
This was my complaint too. I’m ALMOST certain SU could have picked up that first down. But after more reflection I think DB did the right thing. We had :30 left. You risk running a play quickly up against the clock. The upside is you might gain a first down. Hope you don’t get a penalty for a false start or something worse. Ten seconds later you’re still taking a TO and trying a 45 yarder. I agree with DB that had they picked up the first down on third down everything changes. You have a couple of shots at winning. It was a crappy situation. And stinks that we missed the FG. But I don’t think it was the wrong decision.

Agreed was at the game can’t blame dino on that one it was the right call . Smzyt just doesn’t have it anymore but I understand why dino trusted him

Are you agreeing with his decision to call TO with :43 left? Why not wait to call TO with :15 left?

We all know Smzyt is shot but Dino should know that too. Also once again terrible clock management.

again, and as said in the presser by Dino and Shrader, they were discussing whether to go for it or not. There was nothing wrong with the TO to be sure what you wanted to do. I do think they should have gone for it.

He cant. He freezes. He isnt a quick thinker.
I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt that you don't mean anything more with this repetitive post that Babers "he isn't a quick thinker". I've lived in the deep south and find it offensive.

Yeah but the AD probably saved a couple hundred thousand not hiring a special teams coach and that’s the real winner.
We are at the limit for number of coaches.

Plays I would have loved to see.

1. Sneak
2. Fake hand off to Elmore pitch to Tucker
3. Fake Field Goal.

Andre had a terrible angle and has been awful. When we called the early timeout why did we not talk about scenarios?
There are no terrible angles from 48 yards

I'm actually a bit surprised by the reaction to kick the FG. I know our kicker has struggled some this year, but that gave us a very good chance to force the game into overtime. If we go for it, Clemson knows exactly what we're going to do and I think probably stops us. We get stopped, game over too without the opportunity to put points on the board. I'm absolutely no Dino supporter/apologist, but I think it was the right call. What I'm more disappointed and concerned about is having to call timeouts to "think" about what to do. It's like Dino is unable to think a play ahead.

Agree. Just wish he would hve run the clock down in case they made it

Not really concerned about how Babers tries to spin it. Did anyone ask if they had a play dialed up for 4th and short, at the time that they called a run on 3rd and 2? If they didn't, that's kind of bizarre.

The assumptions you'd have to make for the likelihood for szmyt making it and the offense converting would have to be crazy to justify what they did

The objective is to win, not force the game to overtime. Overtime is a coinflip at best
