And the way he reported it (TMZ style), was trashy. It was terrible journalism. He obviously knew about the tape beforehand and turned out to be right but he still did an awful job "reporting" the story.

HOLD UP EVERYONE...
Why are we taking this tape so seriously when we KNOW that Davis and Fine's wife were clearly having sexual relations? THIS CANNOT BE LOST IN THIS STORY. Are you guys serious right now? If you listen to the tape you can clearly hear Fine's wife was almost setting this whole thing up to coverup her's and Davis' sex scandal. Her and Davis having sex at that age IS RAPE is it not? So Bernie's wife was the one raping a boy... and THAT is the only thing that can be proven to date, because they both admitted to the sex. And now this 3rd accuser comes out who is HIMSELF a child molester who's own father absolutely denies all of his accusations and says he is lying 100%. Why is noone asking about the 3rd accuser and Bobby Davis having several phone conversations before the 3rd accuser went to the police with his accusations?????

I don't think this whole thing is as cut and dry as we would like to believe ... who is to say that Laurie Fine and Davis aren't orchestrating this whole thing to get rid of the Bernie? For all we know this tape was made two months ago and this whole thing has been set up ... and now you just have nut jobs crawling out of the woodwork ... Lang now comes forward to support his claims ... why because now Davis has Bernie by the short and curlies? There is more to this than meets the eye ... but I could be over hypothesizing ...

I am wondering why it was never used .. they had the ability to do voice recognition back then. And does that make ESPN also liable for not reporting a child molester to the authorities? I would like to believe that if a major media outlet had something like that they would have immediately taken it to the authorities, not reporting it would be a crime wouldn't it?

They've been on this story since 2003. Didn't Davis play the tape for them then? They had 8 years to verify the voice. It should have been part of the initial report.

Got a feeling this story was laying on the floor for 8 years. It got re-born 10 days ago. I don't think ESPN was actively working on this for 8 years. They dug it up once the Penn St thing broke and started putting time into it about 10 days ago or so

If you were his father you would deny everything as well. Can you imagine how this makes him LOOK to his family and friends? Not to mention the possibility that he helped facilitate the alleged second episode ... and what if he was aware his son had been molested?
The problem is that those are the simplest explanations. This other stuff, about Laurie and Davis, is just crazy talk. Do you really think Laurie would be comfortable with the release of that tape? It would smear her name for life and whatever money they have is going to be consumed by legal bills and possible civil suits.
