Not talking about this year in isolation necessarily, but rather, more broadly.

Serious question...i think the answer may very well be yes. I think there are other programs in the discussion. But I am having a hard time definitively saying we are not.

Suddenly, a lot of the other conference doormats all still look better.

Kansas may be the only program I can make the confident case for.

Jesus...the team we've seen is not even the team we have. Can you not understand all the players not playing or not playing healthy? What is so hard to understand?

I am talking big picture, not only this year.

I hate to say it but we look about as bad as bad gets.
ifs and buts aside, every program has had struggles this year but we’ve made a Grand Canyon sized hole based on performance. It’s sad to see the cycle this program is stuck in keep repeating itself. The excuses/coaches/ways we lose change but the ultimate product on the field has been remarkably consistent for 20 years outside an anomaly or two (call it the blind squirrel finding an acorn). We appear to be a bad program that finds a way to a low level bowl every 5-7 yrs.

Vandy would beat us handy. Us vs Kansas for last.
I wasn’t thinking in terms of head to head. I was thinking in terms of utter hopelessness in the big picture, as Vandy’s ceiling is 7 wins tops because they’ll never compete in the SEC.

I'm thinking a combo of both. For me Vandy is ahead. They may be hopeless in the conference, but the fact that they are SEC seems to almost force the admin to be aggressive in how they spend on that team. 5 of last 9 seasons have been bowl seasons

Pick a lane, you said in your lead not this year, and then talk about how other teams now look better.

The active roster, emphasis on active, is ridiculous, but the full roster next year is going to be much, much better than what took the field Friday.

SU has been competitive with the ACC. Obviously there is 2018 and coming in second, but SU has at least one win against every team other than UVA and Miami, which we have played once on the road.

If you look at the last 10 in ISO it looks a lot less ugly. This year aside of course

I guess my lane is the last handful of years. This year counts but is merely 1 in 4 or 5.

You said "5 of last 9 seasons have been winning years".

Where? They haven't had a winning season since Franklin bolted for PSU.

Apologies, I misspoke. I meant 5 of last 9 they have had bowl appearances. Which feels like at least a generally "successful" season

As the ACC revenue continues to increase I could see Vanderbilt joining the ACC with Notre Dame. Vanderbilt’s academic profile is similar to other ACC schools. From a football standpoint Vanderbilt would be much more competitive in the ACC as well.

No team is leaving the SEC or Big Ten willingly.
The money those conferences make dwarfs all the rest.
When the Disney-SEC tier 1 football rights deal is announced it will drop jaws.
Vandy is competitive in a lot of sports not football.
