Arizona St fires Herm Edwards / hires Kenny Dillingham

Bronco talked about the job openings on his podcast this morning. He didn’t rule out anything.

He also talked glowingly of Coach Beck. When I have time later today maybe I’ll post a transcription.

ASU is going to need a gimmick head coach like a Deion Sanders, to be relevant again. For a coach like Bronco it's a nightmare job. And I don't mean that in an offensive way at all to Deion, I think he's an incredible motivator and one the GOATs at marketing himself. What I mean is a flashy, new name, that can get top level recruits to buy in regardless of scheme or play style. For a coach like Bronco it'd be a good hire, but it's going to take 3 to 5 years to close to respectability with how gutted they are/will become.

Plenty of talent and UCLA and USC depart the conference I think its a good job if you get a leash and time to build it up. They have a big city to draw from and the Cardinals aren't crazy popular.

Exactly where I am. They need a Deion. Talent will immediately follow him. No ramp up time, he’s pulling in guys that USC doesn’t snag, if not outright beating them.

I expect Beck to be OC here next year or the following at the very latest. There is a plan in the works there. Beck isnt going somewhere else to be a QB coach again. He's ready to run the show.

I'm not a person who buys into the "where there's smoke, there's fire" mantra, but there surely had to be a reason to bring Beck in other than hoping to transform Shrader.

Coach Anae is already 64 - -he's no spring chicken as folks like to say. I can see him going with Bronco to one more stop or just happy retiring altogether.

To help recruit quarterbacks is one reason. Also Anae and Beck were a package deal, he probably makes Anae’s coaching life a lot easier.

I always wonder would Dino be the guy looking to leave for ASU? He's a west coast guy who spent a ton of time in Zona early in his career.

I would be curious if he parlays a great season this time around and leaves.

I wouldn't rule anything out after Marrone did the same thing essentially. I would think JW has a sense on what Dino would do

Not gonna happen! Has yet to prove himself here in the acc! I would not worry about it at all! This is just my humble opinion..

Dick Mac didn't prove himself until he did. Then he parlayed it into a gig with the Patriots (in his early 60s). Just saying we don't know these people at all and what their agendas are. If ASU wanted to clean up their program with an upstanding man, Dino would be on the short list for sure. He wouldn't break the bank either based on what the top top guys are getting either.

I doubt any of this happens but the more success we have this year, the more attention will be put on what we're doing

nice money grab for Herm. I actually thought before all the allegations he was doing a pretty good job there, but been downhill after that. His QB is also starting for LSU this year as well

GT will be looking for another head coach soon as well.
How much was he making talking about football at espn? That's a sweet gig.

Not today’s problem. Wouldn’t sweat it.

Does ASU have any commits/players on roster to target if they portal?

internet message board nonsense. i think the chances of dino being fired and leaving are hovering around the same % which is 5 in 2022. Do I think it's possible Dino coaches for another school, yes I do.

Of course it's possible. Just not worth worrying about - he still has a hefty buyout. If we have a good enough season to have another P5 school sniffing around, I'd be a fool to not enjoy said season prior to worrying, at all.

I wonder if Harsin will be a candidate there. Or Chryst.
if he wants to go right back to coaching next year, I would think Harsin would be a good fit for either ASU or Colorado.

I wonder if Herm put a clause in his ESPN contract that he can't be fired from TV once the NCAA findings come out detailing all the cheating he did while at ASU?
