Army Post Game Thread

It was against Navy and he saluted the student section/band. I still had a photographic memory as a 12 yr old back then.
(Apologies for the digression from the thread). We haven’t played navy since 89. Pretty sure it was army. I was in the band and think he saluted our direction

Hold the phone on that one lmao we’ve seen farrrrrrr farrrrrrrrrrrrrr worse half’s as Syracuse football fans!
Worse, yes….but against better teams.

This one was especially frustrating because Army is both terrible and incredibly predictable, and we came in looking like we weren’t ready. Watching them hold the ball for like 24 out of 30 minutes was incredibly frustrating.

Any news on the injured Army player?
The Army coach said that he was speaking and could move his extremities.

The ACC Network reported that Miller was taken to Upstate Medical’s Trauma Center for further evaluation. Army head coach Jeff Monken told Syracuse.com reporter Chris Carlsonthat Miller was able to speak with coaches and teammates while on the field, and Miller had feeling in his extremities.

We will update this article as more information is provided.

Army is not terrible and their offense is not incredibly predictable. This had all the makings of a let down look ahead spot. We definitely did come on flat I will agree on that.

Lost to Louisiana Monroe.

Lost to Wake Forest 45–10 last year.

How is their offense not predictable when they can’t effectively pass?

They’re significantly better than, say, Colgate so I guess terrible is relative. But every ACC team is better than them, so if we like to think we have a good team this year….they’re not a good team.

Game was one sided once we started stuffing the run and spreading them out and throwing on them. Felt like if we came out with that approach we could’ve buried them early because they certainly aren’t equipped to play from behind.

Maybe it’s “good” for us in a way to have to fight back and not coast after an early lead?

Boston college, Georgia tech, Virginia and virginia tech are winning or losing that game by a touchdown or less. I’m not saying they’re a great team but they are good. They’re good mac, sunbelt, c-USA level opponent. We’ve been known to drop the ball against those teams in the past.

Not if they came out with 8 in the box….

Maybe though. Hope you’re right because I’d really love to beat BC, GT, and VT this year.

Score could have easily been 38-10. Didn’t finish two drives that ended in field goals instead of TDs. Those are things they can work on.

In fairness if Army hadn’t tried passing the ball in the 1st three quarters we might not have won or it’d have been much closer. We’ve rarely stopped a team that could run the ball and decided they’d do that until we stopped them.

I saw something that I thought was odd at the end of the game but maybe this is just regular procedure; the refs were in a van driving off and had a police escort both in front and behind them. They literally raced out of there.

I had all sorts of jokes about that to my wife but it was odd to see.

punched in da face first half. able to get off the canvas and rally but get out the smelling salts. we looked soft. and army's coaching staff don't get the whole 4th down thing. ok it works once in a while. you don't go for it every possession.4th and 8 ? playing with fire and they got burned. we'll take that W and march on. salute.
only down 10-19, punt and hope for a stop or turnover. 4th and 8, went for it deep in their own territory. Didn't we score on the first play after the long injury delay (I sincerely hope that kid is OK, hate to see a scene like that). Just a terrible decision by Monken but we'll take it.
