Attendance for Liberty

My point would be that if we’re going to be underdogs at home in week 4, it at least should be to somebody like West Virginia or Purdue or Northwestern. I know the response will be these games are scheduled years in advance, but schools adjust schedules all the time. Our out of conference scheduling has been a mess for years.
Hopefully we’re not paying Liberty to come here.
It was a 2-for-1. They want to play P-5 programs and get them to visit their stadium.

There aren't 15K people that would be there minus a shot. Win this week and it'll start looking more normal.
There’s a lot of what we call “selection bias” going on when some folks talk about attendance and vaccination status.

Do y’all have a vax requirement? I thought you could also do negative tests.. did that change?

Im not vaxxed, just had covid a few weeks ago, and won’t be getting vaxxed - thus unnecessarily compromising my health, simply to go to a football game. I’d pay out of pocket to get a negative rapid test 72 hours before the game no problem… but living down south, they don’t require masking even in concourses, let alone anything else.

In regards to the game last night.. Students may be the best Ive ever seen given the opponent.

Fact is, Rutgers probably killed any enthusiasm for the casual. You don’t get many chances to win back the fanbase coming off consecutive awful seasons. Rutgers was that “here we go again” game.

Liberty is legit, but casuals don’t realize they came in just outside the Top 25, with a potential Top 10 pick at QB. Heck, I texted my pops who is a pretty die hard Syracuse fan, “who is this team” when we got up 14-0, and he texted back “it’s Liberty, relax”… unfortunately them just missing out having a number next to their name last night resulted in a game that isn’t going to move the needle for the fanbase.

FSU is worse team than Liberty, but 4-1, after beating them, could change the attendance fortunes moving forward… as much as they can in the covid era given any protocols you guys have up there. Conversely, losing that game… we’re right back to where we were before Liberty.

Stadium looks fantastic, and I think we match up well with anyone in the country with the lighting/hype ability they’ve invested in. I was impressed seeing the clips shared on Twitter and, aesthetically, how it looked on tv.

I was stunned how few people were there. Really stunned. Students were great as expected. It did get really loud at times too. I loved the lighting and the scoreboard in the middle.

Wish we knew what actual attendance was. I've only gone to a game here and there for several years now, and usually the opponent is a bigger name, but I echo above... I can't remember when I was there last with an attendance that low. Even when I had season tickets back in college and prior (to the GRob years) I can't remember it like that.

The students are literally KILLING it this season.

They deserve a TON of props.

happy to see them show up and see them stay the entire game and be very vocal and in tune with game

Hope the trend continues because if we can get the non students to start packing the dome again, watch out opposing teams!

Maybe, I just don't see it that way. Plus I think the entire vaccination status to get in the Dome is preventing roughly half of the "casual fan base" who may want to come to a game from coming because they can't get vaxxed for a medical reason or don't want to for whatever personal reason they may have. That is a much bigger factor here honestly than some think.
Half is a large number. Onondaga county has a vax rate of like 75% of population over 18. To say that 25% makes up half of the casual fan base seems like a stretch. Now I do understand under 18 also determines quite a few families decision to go with their kids. I think COVID is a factor but not nearly as much as the team not getting W’s. So if the team can’t go down to FSU and win none of it will matter. Wake may be a smaller crowd than the liberty game…

I was in a car accident before. Won’t be wearing my seatbelt, because that thing could saw me clean in half!

But if we win, and our coming back 4-1 with a Saturday afternoon, 3:30 time slot (if we get that slot) vs a Wake Forest team that might challenge for 1st in the ACC

Could be a HUGE game. Hope Syracuse starts pushing it starting TODAY

The Dome might as well been a bar in Nashville at the Rutgers game. That ain't it.

The "casual fan' (love that guy) probably doesn't know that Liberty is pretty good and FSU is at least troubled. Win down there and it'll look good for Wake.

Ridiculous comparison. People like me, who just had covid, are more protected than someone who got vaxxed months ago.

Not going to enter into this dumb debate, but if we have a vax requirement, there’s likely a sizable portion of the fanbase who aren’t vaxxed for actual reasons aside from being stubborn.

Sad to see, because the team deserves an actual crowd if they can keep it rolling through Tallahassee.

We aren’t the Bills, or any West Coast NFL team, that already sold 50k+ season tickets.

*starts dumb debate in attendance thread. Claims he’s not going to enter said dumb debate though.

"Unnecessarily compromising my health" is a wild take for someone who had 8 months to get the vaccine, refused and ended up with Covid.

Half of the world has gotten the vaccine. I think you'd be just fine

Yes that is 100% my hope

The chip is coated in a special lubricant. Ive only felt mine once since i got vaccinated and it was standing at the Urinal at the rutgers game. I wonder if it was reacting to the metal?

And I got covid, and was just fine.. go figure.

My being in my mid-30’s, low body fat, taking C, D and Zinc every day seems to have worked out quite well.

Be happy with the protocols, that’s fine.. I’m simply saying that these protocols for my Bills, and apparently Syracuse, are very recent… so they are aimed at people like me, an unvaccinated person.

However, I literally just had covid. I’m sure I’m not alone. There’s actual reasons why someone like me is not going to get jabbed right now simply because my team requires it for home games.

Why do some of you always get so hype over this? I’m not even arguing for Syracuse to change any protocols they have. Simply giving voice to some that may be staying home in an attendance thread. I’ve also delved into plenty of other reasons. Chill. Go to the game and be happy you can.

You can get in with a negative test.

You can get in with a negative test.

Then I guess that’s a hindrance, but that’s even required for a few places down here.

You have to plan ahead to make sure you get an appointment, but if it’s anything like that up there… it’s pretty easy to just schedule a covid test on a Thursday or Friday before the game and swing over on a lunch break or after work.

Hopefully we beat FSU and those appointments start filling up next week.. or hell, maybe more people get vaxxed… I don’t care, just win and I hope the team gets rewarded by the fanbase if they do.

I get that, but what’s in it for us. Almost certainly they were originally scheduled because we thought we’d beat them easily. In hindsight that backfired. So instead last night’s game became more of a measuring stick. For that kind of game I’d much prefer a private peer school like Northwestern, Vanderbilt,Tulane or SMU, or a traditional rival like WVU. Either way Liberty is a sketchy operation to me.
Don’t get me wrong though, I’m delighted with the win over a very tough opponent.

Hearing some rumblings in the medical community that the vaccine actually makes you lose body fat and INCREASE your muscle mass.

Stranglely the muscle increases are only in the calves.
