Attendance for Liberty

Didn't 20K people just attend a mandatory vax/test Foo Fighters show last week? Granted the Foos are more entertaining than anything SU football has done in 2 years, but still.

I think you could find 20,000 people who would willingly wear (holy alliteration) this to a Foo Fighters concert right now.

You can get lower level seats right now at stub hub for 6 dollars a seat. No reason why that we don't see a crowd of 30k plus for the game tonight.

The number seems steep but I think we all know people on either side of the covid debate that didn’t get tickets this year due to rules or lack there of. More so than those not getting tickets, in my circle I know many families that kept their tickets but haven’t been to a game yet due to the hassle of getting all the kids tested prior to the game. With school, sports, extra curricular etc not everyone has time to load up the car and get covid tests every week.

My number is steep but it was based in part on people saying we're only going to have 20K tonight.

Yes that's true. I turned down 2 free VIP tickets for the show because of the testing protocols.

SPAC on the other hand, does not make vax/test mandatory. It's up to the performing artist. Zac Brown Band on 10/3 not required.

I went to see DMB at SPAC last weekend. It required a vax card or negative test. Place was absolutely packed, could tell no difference between attendance pre covid and now.

If the entertainment value is worth it, people will attend. Very few non-fanatics are gonna jump through hoops to see a bad (until proven otherwise) cuse team.

But SPAC the venue does not make it mandatory. Their guidelines leave it up to the performing artist.

IMO, Covid - either way - has WAY more negative impact on attendance than a listless 2-1 Syracuse football team.

Fans aren't staying away from the Bills games due to COVID. I'd surmise that the vast reason for the attendance challenges are just because the team stinks.

Pro fans are a bit different - especially Bills fans, but people aren't staying away from most football stadiums that have lax rules. The stadiums are packed. The Raiders game was in a Dome. Did you see Penn State the other night, VT, Florida, Wisconsin?

There’s plenty of reasons… don’t have to agree with them, doesn’t mean they don’t exist.

Some are still cautious of COVID. Unvaccinated people don’t want to deal with the BS. The team has been less than stellar. Liberty doesn’t move the needle for any casual fan. It’s a Friday night, which can be a great atmosphere but usually acts more as a deterrent.

Win games… get fans…

10 to 15 %. Drop Combination of reasons
People don’t want to risk being in crowd.
Unvaccinated don’t want to deal with testing.
1-10 last season.

Sold their souls?

Took a coach noone would touch, and many transfers that other schools may have deemed a risk?
ask yourself. would a religious and pious man like jerry falwell sr/jr ever condone such behavior ?

There used to be people with better inside information on ticket sales. Where did they go? Everyone here is just shooting out a number, so I choose 32,528.
My source inside the ticket office resigned and took a different job. Along with most of the rest of the ticket office employees apparently.

I do think mask wearing is a deterrent. If I was a casual fan, I don't think I'd want to wear a mask for 4 hours. Hopefully the student section pops off again this week!

just curious. do you ever wear a seatbelt ? is that becuz you want to or becuz the government mandates it due to safety. cuz you're gonna get a ticket even if you disagree in principle.

All that means is that cost isn’t the driver of attending/not attending. This team and the hoops connected to attending are gonna make anybody on the fence take a pass. Exponentially fewer will be coming in from distance that required time to plan and included unknowns on all aspects of the virus and logistics front. You can’t just walk up with kids too young to be vaxed (if I lived in town that would be a biggie for me). Time and comfort has a value and that’s what people are choosing. It is what it is for now.

Liberty has played a bunch of chit bums and Willis is their entire offense. Their offensive line couldn’t block me on twitter and there’s a good chance we get a TON of shots on Willis the way he’s played so far this season.

The team will be fired up and even if there’s only 30k in the dome it’ll be the loudest place most of their players have played in in years and some of them the loudest ever.

Put up or shut up game for Dino and the closer we get the more I trick myself into thinking it happens. Just need Tommy and the boys to put up some points.

I know CousCuse was singing There Goes My Hero when Shafer was fired.

shafer's legacy has aged about as well as the beer.

if i recall the old jingle correctly "it's the one beer to have when you're having more than one."
or put another way.. just forget about the taste and chug a few to numb your mind
