Battle's Deadline

This draft is sooo much deeper at 2G than next years projection. He would quite possibly move up in the draft next year even if he didn't improve a lick.

I still expect him to leave. But I thought the announcement would have been made by now.

Huerter and DiVicenizo gone.
I am not shocked by either.
Huerter has no reason to go back to Maryland and getting crappy coaching and grind thru the season.
Donte has nothing left to prove in college basketball.

I expect Tyus to leave as well.

The one wild card for Tyus is that he seems to genuinely like school.
He's an ACC All-Academic player with major in Information Science & Tech...not in some gut for athletes.
Perhaps that's a countervailing factor to just going for the show.

It's a not insignificant factor that he could come back, graduate in 3 years, and possibly even move UP in a weaker draft. Again, still think he goes, but this is not a small consideration

He could be seeing who comes and goes before making his decision. Could be the difference in being a early second round pick and late one.

Honestly don't understand not hiring an agent at this point if it's a foregone conclusion that he is leaving. Arguable a mid second round pick benefits more from representation than a lottery pick pre-draft. And I can't believe Tyus would just stay in the draft and not make an announcement. He owes us nothing but the appreciation he and his father have shown for the program makes it hard to believe he would just let the deadline to withdraw pass without a public statement.

From everything I have heard and read Battle has strong nucleus of family and advisors in his group. It would not surprise me if he flew back last night or this morning. Plans on sitting down with his family, weigh the information, see what his gut says and will make the call. The tryout in LA likely his last data point. No problem with the final day decision. If he stays he is looking at the data, if he goes he is following the plan going in and is showing confidence in himself to persevere. I can see it going either way. Either way it is not an "easy" decision to make. Good luck to him and his family either way.

Would LA have given him a strong indication if he made their team or not? It's hard to quit your old job before you're hired for another...

While I tend to agree with this in the real world, I think that when it comes to the transition between college and pro ball, it doesnt always apply.

Agree. Screw people who think this is an easy decision. This is a harder decision than most people ever have to make at this point in their lives.

Omar Spellman is staying in the draft.
Nova lost 4 underclassmen
Bridges, Brunson, Spellman, DiVicienzo.

Jay Wright has his titles and now his players don’t want to pay for free.
Well they should have gone to UK or Puke then

The fact that someone posted a recently updated mock draft showing nets taking him at 40 confirms to me he’s leaving. I think he worked out for them and it’s close to home . I think this is all he wanted and hoped for was a second round selection. Could take Cuse summer courses.

Mock drafts after the 1st or 2nd pick mean nothing. He could get picked earlier or later than 40 or not at all. He nor anyone else is 100% sure what team will draft him, if he gets drafted. To make a decision based on your reasoning would not be wise in my opinion.
