BC and JB presser

Why? Why do you get a license to be verbally abusive after a set time? It doesn't work that way in my job.

It's weird to see people go to lengths to defend behavior that most would find abhorrent in a child...let alone a grown man.

I'd say it was the reporter's and their questions that are the abusive behavior.

Good Lord. He used sarcasm. Oh the humanity.

Yes it does, you know what it counts for? It means he gets to stay on and coach another year. There are no license-to-be-a-dick incentives written into his contract... or any contract... that I'm aware.

That's your opinion. And you don't get a vote.

You might want to consider supporting another college team

Why? That's akin to saying go support another country if you don't like the president.

On the other hand, come summer 2017 or 2018, that's a question you'll need to ask yourself.

JB being a complete to basically everyone is one of the reasons I can't wait for him to move on.

That and the zone!

No, it's not at all like what you suggest.

You can switch allegiances to a college team easily.

Moving out of the country is a whole lot more complicated. I know. I have researched it thoroughly as a possibility.

Does this sort of weak, flawed logic actually work for you in real life?

Really though, judging by the hate for him you spew on here, you probably would have done yourself a favor long ago by finding another team :noidea:

Some of you would find issue with the way Coach asks to pass the potatoes at dinner.

JB being a complete . . . . . . . to basically everyone is one of the reasons I can't wait for him to move on.

That and the zone!

So you don't like Boeheim. And you don't like the signature zone defense?

What do you like?

You are aware that his hand-picked, 20 years on the same bench assistant is replacing him?

I like puppies.

And yes I, along with many others, am uneasy about Hopkins being the next HC. He's waited this long so he deserves the chance but he wouldn't be my first choice.

Your blind support of JB's behavior is approaching some pretty unhealthy levels. I'm sure there's a gif out there for this.

Dont bother. It's always been this way with this guy.

That 's three things you don't like about the program.
1. The current coach who built the program from almost nothing over four decades
2. The defensive scheme which is probably the most well known thing about the style of play
3. The next coach.

Seems to me you'd be happier by selecting a team with a style of play you like and a coach that you like and go with them.

Some of this rationale is the precise reason I never offer any type of constructive criticism to my children or loved ones...the fear of being labelled not a good parent, being disowned, etc. is too much to bear.

What exactly was constructive in the words he used to describe Franklin Howard?

Six to midnight while typing this, huh?

Sure, except for being an alumnus and all ...

Well, given the large number of people on here that went to SUNY Oswego or LeMoyne or Hamilton or Cornell and so on, being an alumnus doesn't seem to be too much of a determiner of which teams people support as a basketball program.

I know Geurgetown alums that don't root for the Hoyas basketball program.

If you don't like the coach who built the program, don't like the style of play, and don't like the next coach, what is the attraction? Memories of those fun times at Laurinson or Haven? (Besides, lots of these guys aren't alums, either.)

Nothing at all! My sarcasm skills are obviously lacking. :) I was attempting to get across how if anyone questions JB for being culpable of any misconduct, misgivings, etc., behold the mighty hands of the loyalists and go root for another team, etc.

Point of order: Syracuse basketball was not "almost nothing" when Jim Boeheim became the coach. He certainly built it up with the help of the Dome, the Big East, ESPN, etc. But he didn't build it up from "almost nothing".

JB is a deserved Hall of Famer for all of his accomplishments but that doesn't place him above criticism or mean that those with lesser accomplishments can't object to his behavior. Their complaints should be judged on their own merits, not a comparison of resumes.

I think the issue right now is that JB's demeanor in the recent press conferences indicates that's he worried about this team and that's probably what we should be talking about.

Unfortunately, once a thread becomes about who is a real fan and who isn't, debate on the actual issues has ended.

Sorry brother. I got it now.

Sure. Because you are offended by the so-called "dick" answer. It seems "harsh" to you and you may empathize with the reporter or whatever.

I don't see it that way.

"Good" is what I think, "Go get 'em, Jim".

You need to stop the insinuation that those who dislike JB's actions in his pressers ipso facto mean that they do not like the coach. I for one like JB both as a coach and as a person but find his actions at pressers to be improper.

A couple of things.

How would you describe the status of the SU BB program nationally before JB took over? I said "almost nothing". How about if I said "lightly Regarded" or a Regional also ran? In my mind great excitement on campus on SU's getting on the ECAC game of the week to play Penn State suggests a pretty low set of expectations. Our big games were against St Bonaventure and Niagara. Now I'll grant you we did get into the Final Four one year thanks in aprt to Ragun Cajun Freddie Saunders (So did George Mason)

Occasional criticism is OK I guess, especially if its not taken seriously. But what we have here are people who say they are fans who dislike the coach.

Who knows what makes a fan? But there ought to be some minimum number of things you like about the program.
