If we beat a 5-18 Miami team this week, we should be in pretty good shape to make the ACCT.
What a depressing sentence that was to write.

Red doesn't have a feel for his players. His substitution decisions are so odd I can't figure out his thought process. It doesn't ever seem to make sense.I do wonder why Moore who was having his best game in weeks only played 17 minutes. Kid was 3-3 from the arc. Was surprised when he was pulled out even in the first half. I think he had all 11 of his points then. Reds management of the bench remains a mystery to me.
If there was a member of the Cuse media who had any stones the following questions would have been asked of Red:
-why did you have Cuffe and Carlos on the court for the final portion of the game? What did you think you were getting out of those guys that might not be evident to the rest of us?
-given that Eddie weighs at least 280 pounds and has trouble moving, do you think it makes sense to play him all of the second half without a break especially considering that McLeod has been relatively useful the past two games? Were you surprised that he was clearly winded in the second half and in the overtimes?
-Was there a reason Choppa did not see the floor for most of the second half after giving you a lot of offense in the first half? In a lost season, doesn’t it make sense to give a potential building block for the future some experience in a close game when he is already playing well?
-how does having JJ bring the ball up and having Carlos run to the corner and stand there help the team? If Carlos isn’t running the point don’t you have better shooting options at the two?
-why was Taylor relegated to the bench as the lead dwindled down in regulation but you saw a fit to bring him back in for the overtime?
-when Davis or Lampkin is backing his man down do you tell the other four guys just to stand and watch or do you ever consider having somebody cut to the basket?
-on the game tying three at the end of regulation, putting aside JJ running under a screen, which has never been corrected, were your players told to foul as soon as the ball was inbounded?
-when you were playing offense defense, why were you not taking Bell out for defense?
-did anyone explain to Petar there was no need to foul or to risk a foul when we were only down one with 40 seconds left and at some point shouldn’t he stop complaining when he mauls guys?
-in an obvious situation where BC is going to foul, doesn’t it make sense to take Eddie off the court?
We have way more talent than Boston College. They are awful. This should’ve never been anywhere near as close as it was.
Yeah that's my surprise too. Needed Petar in for Eddie.-Why when you are up 3 with 4 seconds left and neither team has any timeout left so the other team was clearly going to shoot a 3 why was Eddie in the game at all ?????????????????????????????????? Was he going to protect the paint? Chase a guy smaller guy around at the 3-point line? Like there is ZERO reason he should have even been put in a position to be even in a screen and roll. Coaching 101... Like I said Red lacks basic coaching strategy fundamentals. But Coach K couldn't do better
Thank you for this post. I think you have helped me figure out Red's substitution scheme. If there was a member of the Cuse media who had any stones the following questions would have been asked of Red:

I usually don't come here after a loss, but many folks today are acting like we lost--disgusting.This board is a cesspool of negativity
We kinda did. Definitely could have. It’s effectively a loss to me. The win itself doesn’t mean much regardless.I usually don't come here after a loss, but many folks today are acting like we lost--disgusting.
Eh, score board does still matter. We kinda did. Definitely could have. It’s effectively a loss to me. The win itself doesn’t mean much regardless.

That math is him missing 5 out of 5 not missing 5/8. Btw , this math thought experiment is the only entertaining part of the gameIt's time to get nerdy.
According to AI:
If a player is a 90% free throw shooter, the chance of them missing two foul shots is 1%.
Explanation:
---
- To miss a free throw, the probability is 10% (since they make 90%).
- Since each free throw is independent, to miss both, you multiply the probability of missing one by itself: 0.1 x 0.1 = 0.01, which is 1%.
So if Donald Hand Jr. was 91%, the chances of missing a free throw was 9%. The chances of missing five are 0.09 x 0.09 x 0.09 x 0.09 x 0.09 which is 0.00059049%.
8!/(3!*5!)*.91^3*.09^5 = .025%It's all the combinations that meet the requirement over all the possible combinations. So (0.91*3+0.09*5)^8 / 8^8 = 0.062%
On the football board, it was mentioned a few times that many (most?) of the assistants are on one year contracts. Would that be the same in basketball?Agreed, but he’s nit going to fire Griffin or Straun or the guy he just hired. At best, he’ll supplement the bench with as many spots as the rules allow. But that requires money from the school…. And an admission that the current guys can’t do the basic job.
I don’t know.On the football board, it was mentioned a few times that many (most?) of the assistants are on one year contracts. Would that be the same in basketball?
I mean, we were up by five with 20 seconds left in regulation...with the ball.I usually don't come here after a loss, but many folks today are acting like we lost--disgusting.
That too will be on the CW right after Dawson's CreekNow I don’t have to cancel my ACC Tournament selection show watch party.
So JB couldn’t coach when Morten called timeout with none left? You reinforce the info during a timeout during the game, that's part of being the head coach.
He can be a pouty baby at times, but maybe the team didn’t want him there. The celebration for the 1975 team was planned some time ago and obviously Boeheim decided to skip it. He had to know his absence would be noticed. If there was some sort of beef between Boeheim and some members of that team he should have just swallowed his pride and showed up to the event. But that’s not Boeheim. He’s stubborn to the core.
You guys act like these things never happen. Two weeks ago Kansas up up six with 7.9 seconds left and they were forced to go overtime and eventually lost. I don’t care who you play, games are never over. When you miss foul shots, stuff can happen and it did.I mean, we were up by five with 20 seconds left in regulation...with the ball.
