BC Postgame

Fran said there will be major changed in defense after the game. I believe in both the staff and in personnel. Erob’s 4-2-5 needs two fast linebackers to cover receivers and lineman who can get to the quarterback. We don’t have any. I love Deslauries, but he can’t play in this scheme. They had receivers running wild today because our linebackers and safeties can’t cover. Granted, our two safeties have been hurt all year.

He also said if guys in the portal are just looking for NIL, SU is not for them. They have to be “student athletes”. I hate to say it, but the best players are looking for NIL. I’m not expecting too many difference makers coming from the portal. If Fran doesn’t get 10-12 difference makers, he might as well kiss next year good bye too. This roster is lacking all over the field.
I think the student athlete thing is important to Fran but he knows he needs talent. Let’s see how far our NIL goes, lots of holes all over the defense, on the O line and in the QB room

It's really depressing to try to bring kids to most boring experience of their love. Sorry guys this used to be more entertaining

Thankfully my son was laughing his way thru it. Kept saying is there really no QB they trust to throw a 10 yard pass?

We’re at the Crunch game tonight , which saved the sports day. It’s a million times more entertaining than that football game was.

If the student athlete thing is his priority then he needs to drop down and coach at a FCS school.
FBS football is now professional football no matter what you want to call it.

Yeah, I mean I am glad that he wants players to go to class and not be murderers, but unless there are a bunch of Tim Green’s out there, we don’t need Rhodes scholars, we need good players.

I don’t put the majority of the teams disasterous end on EROB.
Fact is if a defense realizes by half time that there is no way in hell we can score more than 10 points, and we are already down by that, they are just going to relax and stop fighting. You need something to fight for and a possibility of winning.
It is just human nature.
In ND, before they even took the field, they were down by 21 points.
They played much better in the first halves of games when we still had a chance to win.

I put most of the blame on Fran, our OC Nixon and our 2 quarterback coaches.
Those are the ones who truly failed the team.
They couldn’t recruit or identify in the portal an average qb to back up Angeli.
And they refused to change the offense to take advantage of what we had left.
And they couldn’t improve by even a tiny margin the quarterback play of any qb on the roster not named Angeli.
And Fran apparently felt like giving a big ** to the fans by forcing us to endure Filardi and never giving Carney a fair shot.

And what happened to Beilein?

I suspect a lot of this is his “DART” stuff. He wants to sell his ability to set these guys up for their post-football lives. I think it’s genuine, and stems from his upbringing in Camden.

But I totally agree, it’s a nice approach as long as he’s bringing in the best possible players. College sports ain’t about college anymore.

He’s a sales guy

This isn’t Bobby knight who actually did that. I’m sure it comes from a good place but he’s selling players to come.

He needs Addazio Don brown and honestly pasqualoni as babysitters next year. Is anyone opposed to 1 or all 3 of these mentors

I demand coach P enjoy retirement

Ok. I’m convinced now. Fire Erob!

I kinda am at a loss of words. Like we all were anointing Fran after last year rightfully so, then this? It’s like cuse fate lately. You win double digit games one year and it’s like the cuse curse kiss of death falls upon the program (I.e. 2018).

What the hell? I guess we just love to reset the fanbase to ground zero after any momentum. The difficulty of Cuse maintaining any success is baffling.

I was kidding. I think the old “bowl game practices are so valuable” trope is completely untrue.
Yeah and imagine how bad we would have been the last 2 months if we didn’t have practices during the last 2 months.

It falls on coaches…they need flexibility. We needed bubble screens six weeks ago. A WR pass in Week 12? Why not against Pitt or UNC?

The coaching malpractice this game and quite honestly for awhile now needs to be studied. It’s like they were intentionally tanking for a higher draft pick except that doesn’t exist in this sport.

An absolute failure of epic proportions and anyone that just says “well we lost our QB, oh well!”, please. This is so much deeper.

This team is the worst I’ve seen in many, many years.

And I went to the dome to watch it.

Great statistic.

Is everyone here aware of what just happened the last 2 months…??

It’s a level of ineptitude we’ve never seen, as seen very clearly if you’ve actually been watching. I mean think about it.

Even for Syracuse it’s so Syracuse.

Even after the 2020 season, I felt like they were positives to build off of going into the following season. I don't really see it going into 2026. This is the least hopeful I've been going into an off-season in a long time.

Surprisingly I’m on the opposite end of things. After DB I was ready to just stop following SU football completely, except check scores and see if a game was worth watching lately. I’ve almost completely checked out of watching SU BB since about 5-6 years ago. You only live once, already (until this year) had to ruin every Sunday being a Bears fan. Being an SU fans in FB especially just feels like I’m trying to ruin my life.

So anyway, I was willing to give Fran a chance and last year was obviously special. I’m not as down on this team and Fran as everyone else, which I get how everyone’s feeling. We’ve never had anyone here that can recruit like he can and probably never will again. With the portal, a team can turn things around easily from one year to another. I have hope next year is at least a decent year. I’m also expecting huge staff changes, so part of my optimism is that. If that doesn’t happen that will change my perspective significantly. I do believe Fran was stuck, he knew changes needed to be made but you fire everyone mid-season and accomplish what? There’s nobody to replace those coaches with.

So for once I’m optimistic in what looks like a no win situation.
