Benny Out The Rest of the Season

Now it’s becoming clearer, it’s an upper leg or “butt” injury. That would explain him not being on the bench for injury reasons, simply can’t sit down.

This is why I found the Mintz to Depaul talk so upsetting. But even the kids that have left, they go to sr night and to the tournament. And he was done after playing his best game of the season. I also don't remember Benny being top 30.

So, what's the latest conspiracy theory?

Benny's bags are already packed, he faked his injury, and SU covered for him by saying that he couldn't attend the Duke or ACCT games for "medical" reasons?

Why wouldn't he want to take a free trip to NYC, and then Uber over to Seton Hall to check out his new campus?

Really difficult to read that. Not so much specific to Bennie either, but the comments about the OTHER guy and the macro issues going on
None of it really surprised me though. From insiders here, I've read similar posts so many times on this forum that once Hop left, we had no one left to keep up guys spirits who may be struggling, getting the shaft on PT, and/or waiting their turn to play.

Also have read several times the last couple years that even if our current ass't coaches keep encouraging Kadary, Benny, etc, and try to advise JB, they aren't being heard by JB. He does what he wants. Now players have a "get out of jail free card" to transfer out rather than put up with the BS. A kid hanging around for 4 years with pro prospects is rare these days. They aren't going to wait it out to hope things improve here.

This podcast seems to just confirm all that.

Most have been saying this for a while.
Some have been saying this, and most of those folks went radio silent when (until the Duke 2 blowout) he displayed an alarming lack of basic skills in the minutes he played.

Some interesting thoughts from Etan and DC.

I don’t know how this negativity from former players helps us. Yes we want JB to retire, but we don’t want to make the next guy’s job even harder. We need to keep and retain talent. I love DC and Etan, two of my favorites of all time, but I wish these two would “keep it real” outside of a public forum.

It doesn't. Especially when Coleman hasn't been around all year. I don't think he is tied in to Benny at all.

Not saying they’re wrong. But even Etan seems a little clueless about the landscape. He’s like, if I was the Maryland coach, I’d be on the horn to Benny saying, come here and you won’t have to deal with this nonsense. But Maryland doesn’t even have a head coach right now! They’re a mess. And Ewing is about to get the boot at Gtown.

Did DC even come back for Alumni Weekend?

JDub and Moten were at games all the time this year.

Is it really "negativity' if its true? Both guys are good with JB, they're not out to hurt him or the program. But they're also fans, and they're not blind and stupid. It's glaringly obvious that something has gone off the rails, especially these last 2 years.
They're asking the same questions and having the same frustrations that most every SU fan and alum I've talked to, is having. It's right in front of our faces, and Benny, Richmond, Frank, Sy, et al, are just symptoms of an inexplicable disease. JMHO

Eh, what are they supposed to do?

Syracuse Basketball matters to them too.

They're seeing things they don't like. In a pattern.

They want to be better. They voice it.

"Negativity?"

There is no alum who's a bigger program supporter than Coleman. He loves JB, considers him a surrogate father. This isn't undue negativity -- it's a dose of realistic assessment from someone who has been a player -- not just in our program, but at the NBA level.

When an enthusiastic supporter is pointing out the cracks in the foundation, the fanbase should pay attention. Not criticize them for not drinking kool aid.
