1) Toronto is not an option...getting visa's and passports for 2 teams on short notice is impossibleI'm really surprised Detroit is apparently the answer. I know it's the closest domed NFL stadium, but still...you would think maybe trying to do Toronto, or Syracuse, would be easier considering the distance to each site.
1) Toronto is not an option...getting visa's and passports for 2 teams on short notice is impossible
2) Syracuse is too small a stadium
3) When Miami played SD in Arizona due to wildfires, the NFL I think let everyone in for free if they brought a canned food good. Same will happen here. Detroit is a broken city, you have Thanksgiving in a few days. Let everyone in the game for free, get some good PR by doing a food drive or something and help out the city. I can totally see that happening here
Too small in that it can't house an NFL game and doesn't meet the standards of an NFL game. Not the stands and how many show up :crazy:Too small a stadium? They expecting 65,000+ at Ford Field to see the Bills play the Jets on Monday night?
Yeah...like the stadium power outage at the super bowl.Too small in that it can't house an NFL game and doesn't meet the standards of an NFL game. Not the stands and how many show up

From everything I've read it seems it is a tech matter. The Dome being big or "small" has nothing to do with it.
In this case it looks like size doesn't matter.
Did you see anything more than this conjecture?
ESPN's Adam Schefter reported that the league wants the game to be played in an NFL stadium with wiring and technology that meet NFL standards. "That's why a place like the Carrier Dome in Syracuse wouldn't work, despite the fact that it's so close to Buffalo," Schefter reported.
I gotta laugh because this is sort of a "disaster recovery" for the Bills and there are tons of nationally televised football and basketball games in the dome each year. Somehow they seem to happen without wiring and technology.
Hopefully Sala will comment further. I'd really be interested to hear what, if anything, he was told or what, if anything he told the NFL about the dome's "wiring and technology" .
Being "too small" in that it doesn't have replay booths and communication set up to run a regulation NFL game. You hear "small" and think of seats in stands and are lost on this issue. Get off that and look at the BIG PICTURE! It's too small to have an NFL set up to house an NFL TV camera crews (which are more than your regular ESPN college football game), replay booths, communication to NYC for replays. You need more space to run an NFL event, space the Dome doesn't have!! You are missing the point
dont the crazy liberals have a movement for not enough technology?? vote these people in, instead of the global warming or legal pot people. this is when they can pressure the Governor for $$$.The technology thing is just that it's not wired for NFL systems. They don't have the infrastructure setup for the coach to QB/LB communication systems. They're not wired for NFL replay systems and the communication that happens with the headquarters in NY. I imagine it would take more than a day to get that stuff wired up for the first time in a venue.
Cuomo was behind the $200M from the state to help build a $300M domed stadium for the region.dont the crazy liberals have a movement for not enough technology?? vote these people in, instead of the global warming or legal pot people. this is when they can pressure the Governor for $$$.
hey cuomo, you just let an NFL game get moved out of NYS, to detroit freakin michigan...when there is a 50k seat DOME, 90minutes away that wasnt considered because it needs a makeover. dont let this happen again...jackarse.
It is what I meant. But whatever...believe what you wantThere's no way that's what you meant initially.
It it was what you meant you would have just said, "not equipped for an NFL set up" or something like that. Using the word size has nothing to do with it.
then attack whomever killed the deal and get them out of power.Cuomo was behind the $200M from the state to help build a $300M domed stadium for the region.
I get that it is not perfect. Of course not. They could adapt to the limitations and even use some wireless technology (whoever heard of that?) No situation is going to be perfect for all stakeholders. But Detroit? So screw your fanbase for the sake of a perfect TV experience. The technology thing is just that it's not wired for NFL systems. I don't live there but I certainly voiced my displeasure in Miner killing the deal before it was able to get started.then attack whomever killed the deal and get them out of power.
well, im not sure a Dome is necessary but if NYS has a pro football team and a BCS football school...there needs to be 2 state of the art stadiums on call for anything. whether its Dome upgrades or a new facility...just get it done.I don't live there but I certainly voiced my displeasure in Miner killing the deal before it was able to get started.
throw in the Gmen for both of us and the Knicks for you......Whatwell, im not sure a Dome is necessary but if NYS has a pro football team and a BCS football school...there needs to be 2 state of the art stadiums on call for anything. whether its Dome upgrades or a new facility...just get it done.

The NFL wants perfect though, that's the thing. The league did the same thing some 10 years ago. Moved a Miami-SD game out of SD to Arizona because of wild fires. SD lost. Wasn't fair to them or the SD fans. NFL here has options so why not take the perfect one, which is go to another NFL stadium that fills all of their requirements. And if you think the NFL cares about the fans...you are fooling yourself. If the NFL cared about the Fans they wouldn't start playoff games in January at 8pm at night in cold weather cities and make their fans freeze to death or flex games late in the season strictly for TV ratings and inconvenience all of the fans going to those games.I get that it is not perfect. Of course not. They could adapt to the limitations and even use some wireless technology (whoever heard of that?) No situation is going to be perfect for all stakeholders. But Detroit? there you go, taking away the kicking game again...you don't need 2 state of the art stadiums on call for anything
have the jets and bills play at fauver. spray paint a cow field like friday night lights, have some fun with it.
it's a game, get a can of spray paint. you don't even need field goal posts, game would be better without them
And that's why building a new stadium is necessary. If we had a state of the art facility up to date with all the modern amenities we would have had this game more than likely. But adding a "wing" on to the dome or expanding it, changing the bleachers, or just throwing on a new roof doesn't fix the problems long-term. Just a band-aid. It's time to go BIG! Build a state of the art facility for the whole county. Attract big concerts, shows, give Syracuse University a big venue that it deserves. And put our county in a position to be "on call" for situations like this. And lets be honest with the Bills, Jets, and Giants. Things like Hurricane Sandy, this snow storm...its not crazy to think events like this won't happen again. So put our region in a good position down the road to be capable to help out, host an event like this on short notice, and bring revenue to the region. Also have a building that can maybe get an NFL preseason game or two a year.Cuomo was behind the $200M from the state to help build a $300M domed stadium for the region.
Honestly, I am in favor of a new stadium. However, I would never do it as part of a plan to be a back-up location for the Bills or to get pre-season games. That's way down on my list. If we build it and it works for that purpose, that's great. And that's why building a new stadium is necessary.
