Bryant to Indiana

We were considered the heavy favorites before and throughout the NCAA saga. Then they announce the penalties (which by the way didn't include a postseason ban next year or going forward) and scholarship reductions so what there was a spot available for him.

I agree seems to in the end be just wanting to get away from home and mama.

Stop speaking rationally. Hulk smash!

Bryant wasn't the type of player that would have made next year's team significantly better. Don't get me wrong, he would have added value, but he's not the difference maker from us making the Final Four vs us barely making the NCAA's.
A disappointing loss and a crappy week no doubt but chances are we'd have had Bryant for a year so not exactly a program changing moment.

I completely agree. I've joked around that he would just be a highly rated big who starts and plays a few minutes.

For me it was all about just another guy (with lots of ability so far) In the front court.

Negative is relative.

It's an honest opinion of mine 7 months before the season starts.

Would you rather I positively state all the reasons we will be in the final four next year? My point is, I'm just trying to look at it based on how this year played out and who we lost.

At the end of the day, I'm watching every damn game.

I don't follow recruiting much- are diagne and Richardson 4* and Howard and lydon 3?

I think Syracuse can go to the final four and win the championship every year. Hell I think believe Syracuse will and can win every game (Just like i do with all my sports teams i root for) that's just my perspective as a sports fan.

Next year will be worse than this year, imo. Obviously very early, but regardless.

I feel quite confident saying that. And no, spare me the "omg you're so negative you hate SU" BS.

G will be back. TR will be back. TC is good for winning one or two games. KJ2 can only get better. I think we will do fine.

Next year will be better. 4 starters returning who will be improved. The return of Coleman. 4 talented frosh coming in. All those combined out weigh what we lost.

And JB will be on a mission and have one of his best years coaching.

How does Coleman look?

The incoming freshmen will have to contribute effectively also.

I thought id be more upset with this news, but I think with all the drama and problems this program has endured lately. ...just numb to it. Dissapointed of course, but cuse basketball will go on and win alot of games. hope this never happens again...losing a local talent like Bryant should never happen to this program.

Good point. I appreciate and share your concerns. Even if we got TB we would still have the same issues. The big guys take a long time to get good playing the zone. We would be depending on DC2 regardless if TB committed.

Nice post. A lot like I feel.

All 4 are 4* top 100 on ESPN. Richardson is #19 and the highest ranked 4*

And seasons like last year are the exception at SU. Based on the last 40 years, I don't think we're having one of our worst years in the JB era for 2 seasons in a row.

We will need terrific play from KJ2. He's the key in my opinion. TR will be the x-factor. G and TC will be solid contributors. DC2 is a complete unknown. I wish we got more out of Obokoh. I hope Diagne is a fast learner!

So Boeheim's "we got another one coming but I can't talk about that yet"...where's he at?

Maybe Donna or Mike will run a story on it.

With the way the things are going this year with three players leaving already, I wouldnt be surprised if we get another player one bit before its all said and done. The next Kristoff please stand up.

don't be surprised if this is JB's last Hurrah. And Battle seeing we have no reliable center...well that's next. We are not seeing the NCAAT playing in the ACC for a number of years. SU just became on par with their FB team. UGH

It seems really scary and foolish to count on Coleman for extended minutes and anchoring the middle. Maybe he is this new bionic version but history suggests otherwise. Not sure how Diagne will fit into this equation and Obokoh looks like a huge project.

It looks like the offensive scheme will probably be radically different without a Rak type post player. This scares me. We don't really have very athletic and skilled enough guards to be spreading teams out especially since the perimeter shooting is a disaster. The general skillsets must be improved upon tenfold (guard ballhandling especially) and Malachi coming in being a true 3pt threat is crucial for this team to sniff bubble area, IMO.

Boeheim is a smart guy. If he feels like we need another replacement for Bryant's loss, it will happen. Otherwise he will save the scholarship for down the road.

You have to be the most dramatic pessimist on the board.
