Bryant to Indiana

Lets hope for an SU vs Indiana game in ACC-B10 challenge next year!!

With about fifty different interpretations of the NCAA penalties out there, I tend to believe despite what many here thought we couldn't sign him anyway. To me the sanctions made it sound like we could not sign players after the NCAA announcement if the signings made us go over 10 scholarships. Basically saying that would could honor scholarships that have been signed even if we were over 10, but couldn't add anymore.

Now again my interpretation is just that an interpretation of funny worded NCAA sanctions.

I refuse to believe that people on this message board complaining that we didn't contact Bryant know more than our coaching staff. I can see our staff waiting to hear for sure from the NCAA, but I guarantee you that if our staff thought we would and could recruit Bryant try would have been doing it.

They were in contact so its all dirt under the rug now.

IMO the staff realized that Bryant didn't want SU in January and backed off. The sanctions didn't help any but I don't think it had a lot of bearing on him. From his many comments over the months he never seemed to have any enthusiasm for SU, which most of our recruits profess on many occasions prior to their announcement. The staff needs to focus on the 2016 and 2017 classes and get a couple of top rated recruits. Let's all hope that DC2's knee holds up. I'm sick of Mr. Bryant...let's move on.

Next year will be worse than this year, imo. Obviously very early, but regardless.

I feel quite confident saying that. And no, spare me the "omg you're so negative you hate SU" BS.

could be. and could be alot better than last year. depends on your perspective and general outlook on life, I suppose

so you don't think there's a chance the team next year could be very good?

I have a hard time believing we replace Rak's play. That was the best part of this years team, so no, I don't think we will be very good next year. Good maybe, but very, not so much.

but you're looking at it in a vacuum - i.e., Rak's production is gone and no replacement production or other/different production or different type of team or... of course it will be a very different team, but there will also be more overall talent on it

There's a chance I win the lottery, fly to California, and bang Kate upton on the red carpet while jarheadhim cries on his couch.

As I said, I think we will have a similar year to this year. There's a chance we can be very good. "What's most likely to happen". What I think is most likely to happen is our freshman have a sharp learning curve per usual, and we can't make up the production that our all american center gave us.

I see Roberson and joseph improving. But I am much less confident next year than I would have been with Bryant OR Chris OR johnson.

Nothing is fact...yet. Nothing is false...yet. It's speculation right now.

And, I'm perfectly calm. Just my opinion.

Who mans the center? That's the biggest issue I see, and I've said that all along. I sincerely hope DCII can play the entire season, but I just don't see how we can bank on that. Plus he's lost 2 years and was never half as explosive as Rak. It's not like JB really enjoys playing freshman centers for more than token starter minutes.

Seems pretty negative though. It will depend on Coleman and Joseph - if they're good, we're good.

The other pieces are solid. G is one of the top returning players in the ACC, Cooney is one of the better returning SGs. Roberson is an excellent rebounder and got better throughout the year. And a consensus top 10 class - not sure who will be able to contribute immediately, but MR should be able to provide some more desperately needed outside shooting.

Maybe were not great but I can't see a year as bad or worse than last year, considering the players we have. Everyone else is losing guys too

Coleman has and always will be undersized. He has had the width, although he's lost weight, but the reason he struggled a lot so far is because he isn't as tall as the competition and thus gets a lot of shots blocked.

Footwork footwork footwork.

wasn't trying to say you weren't calm. just that the team has a ton of potential and could end up being very good - certain things would have to happen, yeah, but those things (Coleman, a couple of the freshmen, improved Kaleb) wouldn't be some kind of fantasy thinking

Bryant wasn't the type of player that would have made next year's team significantly better. Don't get me wrong, he would have added value, but he's not the difference maker from us making the Final Four vs us barely making the NCAA's.

A disappointing loss and a crappy week no doubt but chances are we'd have had Bryant for a year so not exactly a program changing moment.

Negative is relative.

It's an honest opinion of mine 7 months before the season starts.

Would you rather I positively state all the reasons we will be in the final four next year? My point is, I'm just trying to look at it based on how this year played out and who we lost.

At the end of the day, I'm watching every damn game.

I don't follow recruiting much- are diagne and Richardson 4* and Howard and lydon 3?
