Bubble Watch - Conf Tourney Saturday (Still Alive)

Uodated Bracket Matrix (65 Brackets from Today)

All teams below 100%
Marquette 98%
Vanderbilt 98%
Wake Forest 98%
Providence 95%
USC 92%
Kansas St 86%
Rhode Island 69%
---- IN/OUT-----
Illinois St 26%
Syracuse 25%
Georgia 5%
Illinois

I think many people are overreacting to 2 decent at best wins by URI. Once they (if they) lose the %'s will equalize.

As for us falling behind Illinois St. Could be
a) the sample
b) People are pulling from Syracuse to give to URI.
c) 26% of the matrix is drunken idiots.
Have no problem with Marquette, Vandy or KState ahead of us. I don't think there is that big of a difference between us and Wake/PC/USC.

I'd be shocked if Illinois State was ahead of us. SHOCKED

A lot of people are calling for Duke to be a #1 seed if they beat Notre Dame today. That arguably gives us the best win out of any bubble team.

Anybody that has Duke as #1 seed better have us in the tourney.

After all Duke is 3-6 in true road games. If that can get you a #1 seed, then our 2 road wins should not matter either.

Palm has Ill st, Uga, and Cal ahead of us, lol.

Wake and us have very contrasting resumes. They have a very "clean" resume. No bad losses, a lot of games vs. top competition and a good OOC slate. Good RPI and SOS. Ours is way more muddied.

Its like I've been saying - it all depends on what the committee values. Wake is a safe choice. If the committee decides that big wins mean more than everything else, we will be in. If the committee prefers teams with no bad losses, good computer numbers, etc. Wake is much better.

There's no reason we both can't be in - but it is very hard to compare us. It will come down to what the committee values.

No way Duke gets a 1 seed. 1 seeds are locked in and should be.
I completely disagree. If Duke beats Notre Dame in the ACC Tournament title game tonight, the Blue Devils will have eight top-25 RPI wins and 13 top-50 RPI wins. That would lead the nation in both categories. And they’re 2-1 against North Carolina, which would have three fewer top-25 RPI wins, two fewer top-50 wins and the same number of sub-50 and sub-100 losses.

It comes down to whether the committee values regular season or conference tourney titles more. Not saying he's right, but Lundari says UNC's a lock for a 1 seed due winning the regular season ACC title. Duke had 3 more conference loses than UNC.

I'd like to know as well.

We have:

Better wins.
Beat them head to head.
Finished higher in the ACC.

I find any other criteria that elevates Wake higher than us to be complete and utter bs.

In order of importance - these are the primary factors of separating bubble teams.

Quality wins and losses - Syracuse, even with the losses
Performacne away from home - Wake, quantity and a tad more quality.
OOC SOS - Wake
Individual Team Rankings - Wake
Head to Head - Syracuse

Also remember that we had 3 more home games against top 50 teaams.

We have the most important factor, but I would lean towards Wake. But I am not making the call.

I wouldn't take Lunardis word as the gospel truth. Duke is the hottest team in the country right now and has better road/neutral wins than UNC.

Palm:

The Orange have a nice collection of wins against top-50 teams -- all at home -- including ones over Florida State, Duke and Virginia. However, the rest of the season was not good, and that is reflected in their RPI, which is now in the mid-80s. That would be the worst RPI ever for an at-large team. They also are just 2-11 away from home, which would be the worst ever for an at-large team. And, finally, the Orange have five bad losses, which would be one short of the record for an at-large. A team with six top-50 wins gets left out almost every year. No team with Syracuse’s negatives ever gets in.

Hasn't happened since 2009 and it was a Colorado team that had a 331 OOC SOS.

He is literally making things up at this point.

He also had Monmouth one spot below us.

I hear ya, and you raise some very good points. It just seems like everyone's saying the 1 seeds are locked in. We'll see tomorrow.

Is Alabama on road to steal the SEC auto bid? Oh crap. Can't believe I have to root for Cal's team. Then take a shower.
I'm gonna have to do a full body cleanse. Kentucky's doing everything they can to lose this game.
