Bubble Watch - Thursday Tourney Week

I think USC is in for a few reasons - namely 13-0 OOC with some quality wins over UCLA, SMU and BYU and not too many bad losses (four of their eight losses are to the three powerhouses in their league). And one other reason - USC's best player (Bennie Boatright) missed 17 of their 32 games. Not sure how much that matters to the Committee but at this point just a little bit would probably get them over the hump.

Going to bed but fingers crossed!

Good old DePaul, never doing us favors.

Let's say hypothetically that someone were to rank the Top 25 bubble teams today like so.

Which teams behind Syracuse would the committee think make a better dance case than the Orange if Selection Sunday were held today?

1. Virginia Tech - 44.25 / 5-7 (2-5) - 9 seed

Let's change that up and hopefully I didn't jinx us!

Hopefully Kansas can still put away TCU without Josh jackson

Really grates me to hear the talking heads decrying the small conference regular season champions losing in their conference tournaments and seeing the at large bids go to middle tier teams from power conferences. You know - the ones that can actually win a game or two. For those who say they don't want to see an Illinois or Vanderbilt this year, wasn't that Oregon - Holy Cross game last year compelling?
Hey, MAAC, MEAC, American East, etc! Your choice who gets the automatic bid. Give it to the regular season champ and reserve your little tournaments for the fund raising exercises they are.

Creighton vs providence- we want creighton
Oklahoma state vs Iowa state- we want ISU
-We also want Miami,Duke,Virginia, or Florida state to make a run since we have beaten them
TCU vs Kansas- we want Kansas
Xavier vs Butler- we want Butler
Colorado vs Arizona-we want Zona
K state vs Baylor- we want Baylor
USC vs Ucla- we want Ucla

Indiana ahead of MTSU and USC?

Michigan up big early on the Illini

gotta give those kids a ton of credit, after that scary plane incident yesterday, they just arrived in DC this morning, got to the arena about an hour before the game. Hope they keep it up and get Illinois off the bubble for good.

Georgia leading scorer Yante Maten is back playing his first game after missing 4 due to a sprained knee.

yeah, people don't realize that it isn't the NCAA doing that, the conferences decide individually who gets the auto bid. The Ivy League was the last one to do it the right way and give it to the regular season champ, and even they caved. I am all for the little guy in general, but you can't whine when the regular season champ gets robbed, that's on the conference.

Boy, Michigan's uni's are cheesy. They remind me of those Celuck era uni's with the mismatched shirt/shorts

their regular ones are stuck on the bottom of their plane that skidded off the runway. they can't get them out yet, so had to find something last minute. Definitely cheesy, but certainly understandable here.

Harvard (2x), SF Austin (2x), Yale, Hawaii, LaSalle, Florida Gulf Coast, N Dakota State, Mercer, Georgia State, Northern Iowa (2x), Dayton (2x), UAB, Little Rock and Middle Tennessee State all send their regards (all won first round games in the last four years).

wow - had no idea.

Unforunately. the front post got locked for editing before I had a chance to change it, so no full schedule on it that I would have liked.

There are a few other games that became "known" last night that were not included in the original post.

Xavier may already be in after avoiding a bad loss and remain ahead of us. If that is the case the loss here will not matter. If they are behind us as of now this win will matter.

See Xavier comment.

LaSalle getting smoked by Davidson on Time Warner 314.

My dad has a tough choice - cheer for his alma mater Iowa Hawkeyes or for their bubble to burst and help us out just a little. Bad new guys - I think the alma mater is going to win out.
