Buffalo Bills 2017 Why do I put myself through this season thread

Some thoughts.

This last page of tees on me!

Tyrod had a really bad first half. Missed too many throws. His running was a mitigating factor early tho. Had one choice where he shld have went w his wheels on a third down instead of the weak attempt to Jones near the endzone sideline...Speaking of Jones. His effort on the close out play. His want-to is likeable. He is a damn good gunner on punts. So was Steve Tasker. The Conference Champs of the 90s found out too late he was also a weapon on offense. Like to see him in the game plan... Tyrod much better in the second half. The throw to Thompson is a notch in his belt for sure. Also the throw to Thomas in the endzone. Liked the play call on 3rd down to set up the field goal...tyrod on the move and Shady in space... that's smart.

Running game was special today. Shadys fumble was almost a poison pill, so that needs to be cleaned up, but we had chunks of yardage on the ground. McCoy is a dynamo. I love the guy. Competitive. Confident. Skilled. He needs to be on the field more on third downs. If we had a better passing game shady wld kill it on some draws. Tolbert did his thing today. Still think he's on the field too much on 3rd down but he's def not awful. I think Jones is an exciting 3rd rb option as stated above.

Defense was bend but DO break today aside from the first 2 possessions that TB got 2 FG's on. The rest of the stops required a TO it seemed. Not 100% sure of the issue here... selling out for the run today perhaps, seemed wide spread, apparent Poyer injury not helpful going forward. I don't think I've ever seen a game where guys for the other team ran more wide open and we still won the game. The forced TO's can never be underestimated though, Milano's INT, White poking the ball out to set up the win. Turnovers are everything and we could have forced a couple more - poked one from OJ Howard at one point and Hyde's almost-INT would have been a big one in the 4th. There is an extra focus from this staff to go for the ball that has helped us win some games this year. The previous staff did not emphasize or have enough luck with this.

Kyle Williams needs to be on the Wall of Fame (would like to hear some of your thoughts on this?!) The guy is always flashing and works like a farm horse. Has been doing it for over a decade. He really is a legend. On the other end of the spectrum is Dareus... I don't care about the cap hit anymore... can we trade him for anything?

That all said -- most my negative stuff was in the game thread!!!..... 4-2 ... next weekend's game is huge. Oakland 3-4, preseason favorites over us - competing for a wildcard spot with us. We have them at home... gotta win if u want the playoffs this year!

Next week.... just a bit more than ever yother god-awful shitty Buffalo Bills weekly match up..... is live and die w every play!

The Buffalo Bills are a hulluva drug!...

Chicago Bears fans are livid over cutting Thompson. Apparently he isn't a great blocker and the other outside WRs were better on special teams than him.

I think he could be a diamond in the rough. He's got good size and can get seperation with his speed. Not to mention the chemistry he has with Tyrod from their Ravens days.

Kyle Williams is a no doubter Wall of Fame. That guy has brought it for 11 years on some really bad teams and been a great leader. I want to get to the playoffs for him more than any other player.

I'll leave this nugget here and would be interested in the opinions of the Bills fans here, because I've honestly never heard before that Bills fans felt this way...

A couple for days ago I had dinner with about 20 people for a friend's b-day. I met a couple of guys he grew up with (in NNJ) but randomly both had been born in Buffalo and one moved to NNJ when he was 5, the other around 12. Both, along with the majority of their families were die hard Bills fans and it shocked me to learn that both guys consider the New York Football Giants as their arch nemesis. Apparently most of their families do too. They truly hate on the GMen more than the Jets, Fish or Pats.

Their reasons were many, from "they are the true NY team" to losing on the Norwood kick. They were truly surprised when I told them that as a Giants fan I never consider the Bills as any sort of rival at all. Honestly don't care about them at all. Truly indifferent. I let them know I feel the same way about the Ravens, even though they beat us in a SB. I never think of the Ravens as a rival. Those thoughts are reserved for the foreSkins and Cowgirls first and foremost, then the Iggles (way back, but gaining on the big 2 fast as the Donovan effect continues to wane) then (if I really stretch it) to some other NFC teams we have matched up with in the playoffs a few times like the Packers and 9ers.

These guys told me that Buffalo hating on big Blue is commonplace. Really??

Never heard of it.

I hate the Giants, but mainly because of the fact that Syracuse is pretty split between Giants and Bills fans. The constant chirping by my Giants fan friends has made me despise them. That being said, I rooted hard for them in both Super Bowls vs the Pats*.

Seems like an outlier to me.

The only pure hatred from me is the division... Pats, Fish, Jets. Maybe somewhat Steelers just from college years (living in Erie) and dealing w their fans, but that's really it.

Who on the board is this?

HUGE fan of Kyle Williams...but do you put him in over Fred Jackson?

Few disjointed thoughts after yesterday:

1) Great to see the running game perform better...hopefully they can continue the momentum against Oakland. With the arsenal the Raiders bring on offense I would love to see some long, drawn out drives that keep the ball out of Carr's hands. Speaking of which how about Taiwan on that key third down?? Shifty speed, would like to see him start getting a few reps to spell Shady.

2) I know McDermott fell on the sword regarding clock management but man this is starting to look like a trend...time to start applying that 'process' everybody keeps talking about and figure it out. Can't leave points on the board in that situation.

3) As I thought about it this morning, I think the next two games are going to determine whether Buffalo is a legitimate threat for a wildcard. Two winnable games against the Raiders & Jets, both conference opponents, one a divisional one. The Bills have to take advantage of the schedule if they are going to have a shot. Get to 6-2, having dealt one key wildcard opponent a loss, and I think a lot of us will begin to believe.

Vegas respects the Bills.
Bills are -3 over the Raiders.

Really going to have to focus on what the heck we're doing in coverage this week.

Zone coverage is crap when you get zero pressure on the QB and leave underneath routes wide open. That seemed to be what we did on defense for 90% of the game. The other 10% was OJ Howard running free in his uniform/invisibility cloak.

Jameis, when he's on, is big time...and he was on point yesterday. He threw a pick but we spazzed out any chance of getting points off it. Tampa Bays Receivers are monsters out there. Looked like he was throwing to 3 Gronkowskis and Desean Jackson.

Offensive Line looked good but the Bucs defense is trash so let's see some consistency there.

I'll double down in thinking Deonte Thompson is going to be big for us. Another week to learn the plays and he should get more run against Oakland. He's 6'0 and can take the top off a defense. Already has built in chemistry with Taylor. Exactly what we needed.

Not here. My son was allowed to be a Giants or Bills fan, but not Jets or Patriots. He chose Giants and is already two Super Bowls deep

Bryant is again demanding a trade out of Pitt. I know he's not a McDermott/Bean type of guy but hard not to see what he could do for this receiving corps with his combo of size and speed. They probably won't do it and Pitt might not trade him but Beane should be on the phone with them this morning to see if a deal is possible.

I'd love it but totally get why they wouldn't do it. Watching that post game speech and this team is together and fights for one another.

Bryant is out there complaining after two wins and posting about how he's better than Smith-Schuster.

That being said, he'd probably have 100 yard receiving games left and right if he came here and Taylor just threw a few bombs to him per game.

Yeah, pass on Bryant. Guy appears to be a locker room cancer. I could maybe give him a pass if they were losing and he was frustrated. Complaining and calling out teammates in public after they are winning games is a no go for me. Throw in the fact that Tyrod averages what, 200 yards a game passing, and that leaves plenty of opportunity for him to cause the same problems in the Bills locker room.

I pretty much feel the same way for exactly the same reasons. If Ben can't make him happy, I don't think a passing game led by Tyrod will. But I thought Incognito was going to be a nightmare and he's worked out awesome.
