Buffalo Bills 2017 Why do I put myself through this season thread

It would probably require an injury to a team that has playoff hopes. To be clear, I don't think Tyrod is going anywhere. I'm simply pointing out that a 1st round pick is roughly the price that should be expected in the unlikely scenario where he's actually traded.

Regarding your list of teams, obviously the first 3 would never do it. I could kinda see Denver doing it, but they'd have to be very disappointed in how Lynch/Siemien are looking to consider it. I doubt Baltimore would do it just because of how much they're paying Flacco, but come on...them signing Thad Lewis would not have any impact on them pursuing a legitimate starting QB if they felt so inclined.

Ultimately though, I don't think Buffalo has any interest in trading him; I highly doubt they want to start Yates/Peterman this year.
Peterman is now running with the 2's and there's practice reports stating, on various days, that he was the best QB on the field... "and it wasn't even close". Even guys like Richie Incognito have raved about him.

Dennison's WCO is supposed to be a great fit for Taylor so I would like to see what he can do in it, with 3 big physical WRs to throw to.

Both guys they traded for last week are both out of practice today with injuries, McDermott stopped practice to get after the entire team for no effort. 5 minutes later Taylor and Hughes get in an on field dispute, Incognito separated the two. Just another day...

That's most teams right now. I don't think that's Bills exclusive.

Matthew injuring his sternum 15 minutes into his first practice is classic Bills. At some point you just get numb to all the nonsense this franchise throws your way. Still can't believe we traded Watkins. Unbelievable.

I don't mind trading Watkins but it would be so Billsy for Watkins to be healthy all year, Rams go to the Playoffs giving us a late 2nd and Matthews dies from a chipped sternum.

Even with an injury to a playoff teams QB no team would give up a 1st round pick for Tyrod. Not when guys like RGIII and Kaepernick (yeah I know I know) are out there and can be had without giving up any draft picks let alone a 1st rounder!

Clearly Kaepernick just hasn't generated interest to this point. Not sure a potential playoff team would view him as their savior if they're in dire need.

RG3 clearly isn't.

Like I've said, Tyrod is an above-average starter; somewhere in the 10-15 range. A 1st round pick is the price to acquire a player of his caliber. RG3 is probably near the 30's. Kaepernick is pretty good, but teams are apparently scared off by him.

Again, I don't think Tyrod is going anywhere this year; I highly doubt Buffalo would trade him, even for a 1st round pick.

Peterman was good week 1 preseason apparently.

.

No team in their right mind is giving up a 1st round pick for Tyrod Taylor I am sorry. He's a nice player but a 1st round pick is way too much

Tyrod for a 1, reminds me of threads on the Romper Room hoop board...so, how many guys on the current roster are going to be in the NBA?? 6?? 7??? 8????

Buffalo isn't trading Tyrod so the argument is moot. IF they were and a team was desperate they could probably get a 2, I don't see a 1 unless the Pats lost Brady and they had no backup but they won't and they do have a backup.

I wouldn't trade him even for a 1 tbh.

Even with Peterman at QB, I don't see us being worse than the Jets and Browns and neither of those teams are trading the 1 or 2 pick. If somehow a team not tanking for a QB ends up #1, we already have enough ammo to trade into that spot.

I'd like to see Taylor in the WCO with an actual group of WRs and not a rag tag group of the injured and off the street. We had the #10 offense last year where the majority of the season his WR group was Woods, Goodwin and Hunter.

If our defense isn't a bipolar mess, I still think we can at least keep it interesting all year with an outside shot at the Playoffs.

I believe I read the Browns have similar ammo.

They do but I think they end up with the 1 or 2 pick anyway and they're not trading out of that.

Even if they didn't and we got a 1st for Tyrod, they still have similar ammo and probably a much higher pick to offer.

The more I think about it. I don't think these moves were made to trade up to 1 or 2, because it just doesn't seem viable. I think we take a 2nd tier QB we like and keep our picks.

The second half of the season is going to be wild as far as rooting interests for draft positioning purposes.

Boldin taking shots at Sammy? Talked about how the Bills don't have a diva mentality in the WR's room...

Interesting quotes.

There certainly was a behind the scenes cultural type element to the Watkins trade that was definitely evident. Could get worse before it gets better but they need to start somewhere

I heard the same re: Darby. That Darby wasn't buying into the new regime/philosophy and that the new regime essentially doesn't value the cornerback position, so they might as well get value for him.

LOL. Like a coaching staff wouldn't value the cornerback position.

This is pretty much the GM/coach's MO. Do you remember who they were starting at corner last year? Carolina is famous for running a scheme that tries to de-emphasize the cornerback position. That's why they let Josh Norman walk rather than give him the franchise tag.

Is it to late to cancel that Watkins trade, good lord does Tyrod look bad.

Tyrod has been far from the problem, no? I admit I don't follow the Bills that closely but Tyrod I thought has performed pretty well to date with what he has worked with in his tenure there. Yeah, in a WCO I would think he could be a dangerous player.

Rod Streater being carted off. Appears his season is over. Thin wr core with another blow.

Caught a few minutes of the second quarter/third quarter last night. Yowzer what a mess...from penalties to Tyrod and everything in between, not a great look. It's the preseason however so no need to overreact...but there are definitely leading indicators. Could be a tough year.

Two main thoughts:

1) Thought Peterman looked like any other rookie QB- moments of brilliance with some awful throws mixed in. I know everybody was excited about the throw to Zay Jones on the sideline (admittedly a thing of beauty) but I was more excited that he was able to hit O'Leary down the middle on two occasions. Bluntly that's not a throw we generally see Tyrod making (albeit Peterman was playing against 2nd/3rd string players). Let's not make him the heir apparent but there is clearly some potential there.

2) I'll repeat what I said after the Watkins trade- they better get an elite QB in the draft next spring because otherwise this just wasn't worth it. He's an elite talent...and when watching our receiving corps last night, there is no one that is even close to measuring up. If Watkins gets hurt again, then it's a fabulous deal and I'll eat my words.

The defense better be good this year for us to have a shot at anything respectable...

Penalties really continue to be a problem, freeking 15 of them last night. The last 3-4 years have been nothing but a nightmare penalty wise. McDermott really really really needs to find a way to clean that up. Thought the 1st team defense really looked good. If that secondary can stay somewhat healthy and Gaines can be a player for us we should do OK.

Agree about our WR core right now its taken a huge hit with the trade of Watkins. Getting Matthews out there should help but with Streeter now gone for the year they should sign a veteran like Stevie Johnson or Vincent Jackson and get some depth in here because we are hurting on the outside. I will say even though it was in garbage time the two undrafted rookie WR's looked pretty good and made some excellent catches.
