After a day to absorb the trades, I give Buffalo a B rating.
The Darby for Matthews and a 3rd was an A+ deal. We got a high round pick and a good WR who will likely be resigned and fits our offense that features big bodied possession WR's.
The Watkins deal is a C. I get why they did it but wish they could have gotten more. EJ Gaines had a good rookie year and if he regains that form, he's a legit corner but if rumors are true that Trumaine Washington is on the block, then I'd much rather have gotten him. The 2nd might as well be a borderline 1st with how bad LA is projected to be so I'm assuming they wouldn't offer that pick and Washington for a potential superstar WR who can never stay healthy and will command an OBJ type contract next year.
I think the Bills philosophy is to be a team with a chance at the WC while building for the post-Brady future. With the dead cap hits on Buffalos main players, id be shocked if they move anyone else aside from a Ragland type.
This is not a tank and I'm sick of people saying that.
An offense with Cordy Glenn, Richie Incognito, Eric Wood, Charles Clay, Jordan Matthews, Anquan Boldin, Zay Jones, LeSean McCoy and Tyrod Taylor in his make/break season is not tanking.
A defense with a defensive line of Lawson, Hughes, Dareus, Williams that resigned Lorax, brought in Hodges and Hyde, is not tanking.
We're what we were before the trades. A perennial .500 team that could finish 6-10 or 10-6.
