Lets let this be based in reality. We will find out on the field and in the conference standings soon enough...
We are talking in reality, you're the one who isn't.

We played two BCS teams out of conference in UNC and Illinois that year along with a brutal Big East slate which included two legit top ten teams in Loiusville and WVU.

Would you care to share both of those teams records that year? Ok, I looked it up. UNC was 3-9 and Illinois was 2-10. Again, You sound ridiculous.

Brutal big east schedule? Miami and Tch were long gone. Nothing brutal about it. 3rd place finish.

Please keep going. This is too much fun (but a bit sad)

Yes, we will. And after we stomp you--for the third time in four years--there will be no doubt left in anybody's mind.

But hey--you'll always have 2006, and that triple OT loss to WVU to reminisce about.

Please tell me what year it was again when SU won 11 games? Its been an eternity...
10 wins in 2002. Long time ago for sure, and you guys had 11 in 2006. That was a great season for RU, one you guys should be proud of. Problem is, most fans of SU know that we've had many years that ended in a similar fashion. Rutgers has 2006. It hasn't happened recently, you're right on that. It's just funny to most of us that of all schools, Rutgers fans trash SU as the Big East doormat. You guys were the NCAA's doormat from roughly 1869 to 2006, so obviously you know something about it.

With all of that said, and all of the subjectivity on what actually constitutes "ancient history" SU has beaten you two of the past three years. That doormat last place team in the Big East should have won last year's game and HANDED it to Rutgers in overtime. So go ahead and puff your chest about how great your team is, and the type of program Rutgers has built. The fact you've lost to a doormat 2 out of the last 3 years says everything anyone needs to know about your program.

And while SU hasn't been a world beater by any means, I find it kind of funny that you talk of your dominance when you haven't really shown that on the field the last three years (at least against Syracuse). We have history on our side, and a better conference on the horizon. We have a coach that is committed to winning, and hopefully we will get back to the level this team was at in the '90s. You have 2006, and one win in the last three years against Syracuse. You have all of that history to look backwards at as well... no wait, you don't have that. You have 2006. You have 2006. You have 2006. Repeat it, remember it. YOU HAVE 2006. THAT IS IT. IN 143 YEARS, THAT IS ALL YOU HAVE. Please stop.

Did you just utter the phrase "brutal big east slate"?

Bwahahahahshaha. OMFG.

Classic.

So that makes you second to last...congrats. We still are a better program then you right now.

How so? When you beat us a few times in a row, you said history didn't mean anything and to look at the recent games. Well, we've won 2 of the last 3.

Btw, you looked like ass against Tulane. Laugh at our loss to NW, but no sane person would say rutgirls looked better than SU last weekend. Good luck against that tough schedule you have. .

The Big East was outstanding that year and the best it has ever been with 3/8 teams FINISHING the season ranked in the top 12. RU beat #3 Louisville and took an outstanding WV team to triple overtime on the road. That team with Ray Rice/Brian Leonard in the backfield and three future NFL Olineman would have been a handful for anyone...

See this is what you dummies do not get. You played 13 games that year. That did not happen until recently. From 1987-2000 FSU was Top 5 EVERY year. Four of those seasons they had less than 11 Ws. Does that mean RU had a better season? Because that is what you are implying by saying RU had an 11 W season where are all of SU's? CFB did not start in 2005 jackass.

In addition look at who you played for those 11 Ws it is an Fing joke.

2 Top 40 Ws- #5 Louisville, #31 USF
2 additional Top 50 Ws- #45 Pitt, #47 Navy
3 additional Top 75 Ws- #60 K St, #66 SU, #73 UConn
2 additional Top 100 W- #77 Ohio, #97 UNC
1 additional Top 125 W- #108 Illinois
1 additional Top 250 W- #215 Howard

So you seriously have the nerve to crow about an 11 W season where SEVEN of those 11 Ws were outside of the Top 50? And only ONE Top 25 W (although a very impressive W).

And BTW to say that it was the best the BE has ever been shows that you are a 2005er.

I feel very confident that we windup in the Big 10/ACC over the next five years.

Yes, the B1G passed over Missouri, whose football team was coming off a 10-win season and Big XII championship game appearance and whose basketball team was coming off a 23-win season and NCAA tournament appearance, has two decent television markets full of people who actually care about Mizzou, but they're going to add Jersey State.

And the ACC, which passed over Jersey State in 2011, 2004 and 1990 is suddenly going to find value in adding you? What are you smoking? :rolling: :rolling::rolling:

Jersey State is going to be stuck in Conference USA 2.0 forever, which is appropriate because Jersey State is, was and always will be a second-rate program.

Good research. That schedule was more embarrassing than I thought.

Uh, our POS football team beat that POS Illinois team that year. Please don't include UNC and Illinois as legit BCS teams that year. They were dogshit.

I grew up in Jersey. Some of my degree credits are even from Rutgers. Can't say I'm a Rutgers fan, though.

Anyway, I hope for your sake that your confidence in getting an ACC/B10 invite is right. Because if not, your team is seriously screwed.

Personally, I think any chance of a B10 invite sailed away with what happened at PSU. Paterno was the one asking for an Eastern partner. Yeah. Not so much incentive for that anymore.

With ND looking like a better fit for the ACC, who is the B10 going to go after? Oklahoma? It will take a ton of work, time, and miracles to extract them from OKState. The B10 only expands with slam dunks.

And the ACC will go after UConn (being a basketball school) way before they sniff at Rutgers.

It's a shame, really. Because a potential rivalry was starting to brew. Mainly because you guys actually put up a fight now. You were everyone's automatic win for decades. I think it's laughable that someone can call a team terrible, and yet lose to that same team twice in the last three years.

Does it matter if you go from being the last place team in the Big East to the last place team in the ACC(fighting it out with Duke)?

We're gonna go from spanking Georgetown on ESPN Gameday to spanking Duke on ESPN Gameday. So in that sense it doesn't matter much.

Listen. I get the envy from Rutgers fans. But the truth is simply this: Rutgers has sucked soo badly for so long in the only two sports that matter, that nobody wants you.

We made a horrific hire and it sunk our fb program to the depths that we never thought possible. Rutgers used our poor judgment to doggy-paddle its football snout above water. Reaching football mediocrity as its program zenith.

But it wasn't enough to grab anyone's attention.

Our basketball program is perennial top ten. It has cache and appeal, and we've used it to leverage a lifeboat off Gilligans Island. Now we are looking at riches that'll once again allow us to restore our football program to where it was, and possibly rape and pillage your backyard for recruits, while you somehow try to rub two sticks together to start a fire that you hope is noticed by the big ten, while at the same tome pretending to be happy with your shipwrecked conference mates.

I'd be envious as well, but i wouldn't be surprised that rutgers was passed by.

And just add insult to injury, our athletic director has launched a campaign aimed at taking over the only hope that you fanbase has - its claim to own the new York media market. Suggestions that either team owns New York are ludicrous, but our claim is just a footnote - we've escaped this dumpster fire- your equally futile claim is the best hope you have to keep your athletic department from falling off the face of the earth.

I get the anger and envy.

This post is not being afforded due credit or even acknowledgment. Very well done.

Yes, their chances went down with Pedterno gone. But now we know the real reason Pedterno talked about rutgirls and the B10. Pedterno and shady both knew about Sandusky. They shared a secret.

I'm getting bored with watching rrruuu get skull screwed by OrangeNation...can't we invite a few more clowns over from their board? It seems almost unfair to watch the abuse.

And our "house of cards" program is still recruiting better and has better facilities then yours...

Lets be honest, nobody has "penis envy" of the team that finished DEAD LAST in the Big East six out of the last seven years.

But if you say it enough someone might believe you...

Cannot wait to see the announcement that you guys are playing the Sorbonne at Euro Disney in 2017 after the Big whatever-it-is-called-by-then has run out of American universities to recruit.

It could even be your big rivalry game as the team from the banks of the Raritan takes on the team from the banks of the Seine...

It will put the Red River rivalry to shame...

Seriously, the faster you guys just disappear the better...I may not like Georgetown, UConn, WVu, Va Tech, Louisville and others but at least I can respect what they've accomplished...

You guys sucked in football for 130+ years and you're still not very good but you talk like you are USC-east and your basketball program sucks even worse hard as that is to believe...

You have no accomplishments...None...Nada...Nichts...Niente...

To be fair, Louisville (one of the 3 Top 15 teams from the Big East that year) took the big bad Hurricanes behind the woodshed. That and we were tied for 2nd in 2006, not 3rd.

Oh, and this thread sucks.

So therefor you beat Miami through a proxy? Transitive property is 100% legit. Congrats, you're an asshat.

This thread is awesome

Doesn't Buttgers still hold the record for last place finishes in the BE? In just about every sport?
