Class of 2023 C Owen Freeman (IL) Portal from Creighton

St. Louis another team to look out for

Yes with sleuthing I don’t see much of a social media connection but they also aren’t far away if he’s not big on being away from home. Which given the history I would think a different region would be a good thing but that’s me.

You're planning to die on this hill, huh?
I wouldn’t dismiss Omaha’s observations. He watched the kid play this year at Creighton and probably knows more about the situation than most of us. I’m not saying that his conclusions or the Creighton staff’s conclusions are right, but he’s just warning us that the staff needs to proceed with caution here.

So doing some research- Creightons defense has not been top 30 under McDermott outside of the years they had Kalkbrenner. I’m not sure in what world thinking there was a plug and play for RK in terms of the defensive responsibilities made sense.

Nothing adds up for me here in terms of OF being somehow unplayable. This seems to be the combination of a typical struggle to trust an injury when healthy, not being able to be in game shape yet and a bad fit.

Not saying I’m gung ho if the staff is being hesitant just that there must be something going on here. If it’s manageable and he can be healthy, in shape and return to offensive form while being a good teammate then so be it.

Nothing to do with his injury or him be in shape. My recommendation is you go and watch the replays of games and see for yourself on why he barely played and was unplayable.

I know 100% and donate to 2 basketball programs, the first one where I grew up (Syracuse and Rochester), the second one where I ended up many years ago for work.

I'm not dismissing his observations, but not sure why he has to post them what seems like a hundred times in the thread. It's strange.

Bad for us. We do not want freeman
This again. creightons season was over before it started with a 5-5 NonCon and a Q3 loss with no way to make up for it in the big east.

We know for a fact that it was because he came in injured and out of shape.

You sound like a jaded ex girlfriend that got cheated on by this guy. We all know the Creighton and Iowa fanbases got fleeced by this guy.

I doubt Syracuse is gonna get fleeced because no way we’re throwing 1.8 mil at this guy like Creighton did.

Might as well say more instead of whining about him here Omaha

Not trying to damage the kid I promise, as he is a good person. He is a better fit a UNI or similar. Just hoping my message somehow forces staff to do more homework or DD. Have been a diehard fan for 45 years and want us to have the best chance at winning. Don’t want to take hope away from this group so will stop posting on it as have said my peace.

To be clear, you hope by posting what you posted here the staff will realize they have to do more due diligence?

What is a good game replay to watch ?

I am from the Midwest. I talk with Iowa folks. I think there is animosity with the fanbase as he didn't play through an injury. Iowa was bad the years they were there, so some natural animosity from the fanbase in this era isn't justified, but understandable.

He looks like he plays below the rim. He doesn't seem too athletic. All things that can possibly be system fit, injury related, etc.

This one is a hard one to judge for me. I think proceeding with caution on Freeman is natural. I think OmahaCuse is validated in the fact he has seen him up close.

I think there is a world where he comes here and puts up 12 & 6. I think there is a world where he comes here and puts up 5 & 4 like he did at Creighton. Nothing is a sure thing.

I'll take the guy who has seen him up close the last year. Us folks just looking at his Iowa stats are allowed to be enamored, but let's pump the brakes and give last year at Creighton some actual look.

No one is invalidating what Omaha said about him, but he’s shoved it down our throats since we were connected to Owen. I think it’s fine to be excited about a recruit without being constantly badgered by negativity around them.

Do you think there is any chance for a turnaround for this kid?
I more than hear your concerns -- more than most in here.

But, does this kid have any shot in your eyes of success here?
I remain skeptical, but do see him having a chance to succeed.

Ironically, I graduated from UNI. His stats at Iowa suggest he is capable of much more than the Mo Valley. Unless you think his game has regressed to mid major comp.

I think some are dismissing what he is saying and only allowing themselves to be all in on Freeman. Which is fair amd just my observation.

I also get what you are saying. It feels like there is something Omaha withholding, but it really does just seem like he doesnt seem talented enough -- all with mostly negativity.

Hard to understand that when you look at Iowa numbers.
