Maybe they are just offering more. We might not even have his major
Give me a breakBack to the days of our staff not closing out recruits when they are on campus!
This is not the right mentality. We were never going to get a top 5-10 big guy.
So let's get the 2 guys, I guess.I’m ok with this one. We will be fine. Good player but lots of question marks too. And you could get 2 players for that amount
It is just the current reality. It is going to take us turning the ship around for top guys to want to come here. It isn't a permanent mentality, but we have to fix the program first. If Gerry can win this year, it makes it more probable to land top guys next cycle. This is not the right mentality.
The current reality is that these guys are free agents every year who will play for the highest bidder. We've come up short on Wilkins and now Freeman. And next year these players will be more expensive, provided the NCAA still won't have any control over this nonsense. So it will be harder to get players next year regardless of how well we do this year.It is just the current reality. It is going to take us turning the ship around for top guys to want to come here. From the moment we decided to change conferences, not that we had a choice, it was obvious that we would not be able to competitively recruit in the ACC.sold us? What big time coach would want to come here? This isnt Syracuse from 20 years ago. College athletics have changed dramatically and the brand isnt the same and people just need to accept that.
The move to the ACC killed this university whether anyone wants to admit it or not. We havent been the same since and quite frankly will never be what we were.
Much of whiners and quitters here today. Why don’t you call up gmac or AO and cry to them? From the moment we decided to change conferences, not that we had a choice, it was obvious that we would not be able to competitively recruit in the ACC.
Pointing to Fran Brown is not proof that a good recruiter makes all the difference. In fact, it proves the opposite. We gave up 77 points to a team that did not even make the playoffs.
Our recruiting advantages have disappeared. How many people here have run a business? A salesman is selling a product. Slick talk does not overcome an inferior product. We no longer have National interest rivalries. Our inner city playground rough and tough showboating persona is gone. In the world of NIL Syracuse is not a wealthy community. In Tucson, for example, in some subdivision, houses begin at 2 to 3 million dollars minimum.
Everyone is hoping to get back to the tournament. We used to hope to win the tournament. We cannot be what we used to be.
We can still get better guys, were just not going to get the top 5-10 guys at their positions. The sum of the parts can still equal a good team. We're not going to turn the ship around without better guys.

Well said, exactly what I was trying to say.I mean...
Maybe? But players also want to go somewhere where they can have success, and get PT. Right now, GMac is new. If we are successful this year, then we will be an easier sell. Money is an miportant factor, but it isn't the ONLY factor.
Success betgats success, because it makes it easier to sell guys.
Now, I can certainly get behind the notion that we aren't going to get top 5-ish caliber position guys via the portal. My reaction is... meh. We've only landed a handful of those guys over the years anyway, even when we were a top flight program.
We've always been a program that thrive getting system fits. Nothing has changed in that regard. I'd rather have a team of 8-9 guys who can all play, then blow the budget on one player and fill in the gaps with scrubs.
The concern is now we might be stuck with someone even worse. I did not like him at all, but it is possible we like the guy we end up with even less. You guys are so dramatic for no reason. They miss on one portal guy that is a huge question mark and all of a sudden we missed on a top 5-10 player? Give it a rest.
Can we take the conference BS somewhere else. I’m sick of reading the excuses for Boeheim being old and lazy.

Dodged a bullet guys. 12th man on a bad team for a reason. Below the rim, slow, dealing with some anxiety when he comes into games ala JJ, chuck Knoblauch, so bad he would fumble the ball, throw it away, etc to the point he was unplayable along with his inability to guard anyone. Way to slow for the 4, wish him the best at Auburn.

We've now missed on Freeman, Wilkins, we're apparently out on Jalen Cox, and a bunch of the other "bigger" names we've been linked to. It's not one guy. If the program wants us to believe they have money, they need to show us they have it.You guys are so dramatic for no reason. K now I like you again.Dodged a bullet guys. 12th man on a bad team for a reason.
